On Monday the 25th of March, Year 9, 10 & 11 Visual Arts and Year 11 Photography, Video & Digital Imaging, travelled to the Art Gallery of New
South Wales. For many students this was their first experience in any art gallery and all students were excited for this opportunity to see the
2019 Art Express and Brett Whiteley exhibitions, as well as the gallery’s permanent collection.
All students’ attended Art Express, which is a collection of artwork from the top performing Visual Arts students from the previous years HSC
cohort. This year’s exhibition showed a fantastic variety of artmaking techniques, mediums and concepts, with many students commenting on how
great the exhibit was in general but also as it made them feel more confident in their own artmaking abilities.
Year 9 & 11 Visual Arts attended the Brett Whiteley exhibition in the gallery, as they are looking at portraiture in their respective courses. Many
students were struck by Whiteley’s expressive style and were impressed viewing art-
works that they had only seen printed on paper, in the flesh.
Year 11 Photography students also had an opportunity to explore Hyde Park, taking
photographs of land and cityscapes that they rarely have an opportunity to.
All student’s had a great day full of
artistic inspiration.
CAPA
EXCURSION
140 leadership students participated in their first workshop in
the school hall on March 22, 2019. The theme of the workshop
was ‘Resilience’. Students participated in various activities that
allowed them to display resilience, work in teams and build self
-confidence. Some student leaders presented their ideas of
what resilience meant to them and why it is important to al-
ways display persistence. The main activity for the day was
centred around building and designing ‘Dragon Boats’. Stu-
dents created their own Dragon Boats using recycled and sus-
tainable materials. It was a successful and engaging day for all.
A big thank you to all the students and teachers involved!

Year 7 Camp Week 10
The 3 days of camp were amazing! When we arrived at 9:45am at The Tops, we
went straight to the meting hall to get our key codes for our rooms. We had
lunch after our first activity. We played survivor and participated in some chal-
lenges. We did another two activities after lunch before going to dinner. After
dinner we did night activities. It was an awesome first day. I got 2 hours of sleep,
I wasn't really tired but I lacked energy. My favourite activity of day one was the
giant swing!
On the second day we had breakfast and went out for our morning activity.
Lunch was my favourite meal of all! It was Mexican and it was sooo good. After
lunch we did two activities, but our last one was go karting. I really enjoyed that
one because you had balance the kart effectively to be able to beat the other
opponents. When we came back we had dinner and then we watched a movie. I
went to bed earlier because I was pretty tired.
Day 3 and the last day of camp! We did ab-sailing for our last activity. I was keen
to go. In my opinion, camp was a great experience, was heaps of fun, and I didn't
want to leave. I created many memories which I'll remember for years to come.
I'd like to thank Mr Arvanitis for organising the camp for us and the teachers
who came to support us.
