commander in chief of the allied forces led by the USA
This armistice represented Italian surrender and the end of all the
hostility.

Consequently, the Italian army’s broke up, after the announcement and it became uncontrollable: the majority of the divisions operating in the center and in the north of
Italy were captured by the Nazis.
THE TROOPS WERE:
tired, disheartened, hungry and shabby, trending to defect.
Even the Italian commanders left the Nazis free to act. Every Italian soldier only wished go home while, contrarily, the Italian anti-fascist encouraged them to carry on. Then, the
Nazis troops occupied Italy.
