Morning Classes Cancelled as Memorial to Dr. KingFaculty Votes Honors Change;Only Six Exams to Be Required

The Honors program was sub-jected to its first changes in overforty years at the faculty meetinglast Friday. Future Honors studentswill normally be required to sit forsix papers, and will normally be al-lowed to take a maximum of six sem-inars. Gilmore Stott, Presidential As-sistant who described the meeting forThe Phoenix, said that votes on thesemomentous decisions were "decisive."

Approval of the six-paper programcame after the faculty had rejectedthe CEP Minority Proporsal of fourpapers. The theme of the argumentsadvanced in support of the minorityproposal was that, in Mr. Stott'swords, "This solution would havebeen the bolder step in the impetusit would give toward realizing bene-fits of the experimental features ofthe CEP report." Other advantagesclaimed for the four-paper programincluded greater "cognizance of thepressures of our current social andeducational scene," and increased aca-demic contact between Course andHonors students.

IMPONDERABLESThose who opposed the minority

report had a different answer for-thequestion, "How much can Honors bechanged while retaining its uniquebenefits?" In their view,, accordingto Mr. Stott, the four-paper proposal"contains too many imponderables forus, and is not inclined 'to hold fastto that which is good' in Honors atSwarthmore . . . If we adopt a six-paper program in Honors, seminarsstill predominate *in an Honors stu-dent's educational experience, and thisis a plus. The 'dangling minor' is re-moved, but the benefits of doing sub-stantial work in more than one fieldare retained."

Concern was expressed that thefour-paper program would so depletethe number of Honors students in the

smaller departments that outside ex-aminers could no longer be attracted.Ultimately it was feared that small-er departments would be forced todrop out of Honors.

Spokesmen for the sciences ob-jected that the minority proposalwould not perpetuate the interdepart-

While it may be said that theU.S.A. sounds better on recordthan in person, the same certainlydoes not hold for Jeremy and theSatyrs. Their album (Jeremy and theSuti/rs: Reprise) gives evidence of alltheir sources from Chicago bluesthrough hard rock and jazz, but leansmost heavily upon the blues. Most ofthe cuts arc standard length, the long-est being six and one-half minutes,and they are all highly structuredand restricted. From the album, thereis only a slight*indication of the bril-liance which they demonstrated inconcert Saturday night.

FREELY FLOWINGThey began with their rendition of

the Miles Davis tune, "All Blues," andcontinued for nearly two and one-half hours of improvised magic whichtransfixed the majority of a packedClothier. Most of their selections ranfor aboufa half hour apiece, duringwhich they glided in and out of thefull range of forms and emotions ina nearly stream-of-consciousness fash-ion. Here and there one could catchpassages from most of their albumsongs and from some jazz standards.One selection might start with ascreeching Chicago blues, proceed toa soft, lyrical flute solo, continue intosome standard jazz piano patterns,pause for a bass solo, launch into somehighly progressive, free-form images,slip into a soulful rock passage, andend with a few haunting pianochords. Perhaps the flow was toofree, for v they seldom seemed to re-turn to their original themes and tieexcursions together.

SATYR SOLOSEach member of the quintet pos-

sessed flawless taste and sensitivityto the others, not to mention an indi-

vidual proficiency on their respec-tive instruments. Jeremy Steig, rec-ognized as a first-rate jazz flutist,was equally impressive in his lyricalsolos, in his rapid runs, in his one-man duets of voice and flute, andas he filled in between the lines ofthe other solos. I have nothing but

King Chester Freedom Fund CreatedTo Translate Good Will into Action

In the interest of improvingrace relations in DelawareCounty, and in order to demonstratethat non-violence is not dead in thewhite community, a group of whitecitizens here has established the Dr.Martin Luther King Chester FreedomFund.

The Fund, which was set up as amemorial the day after Dr. King wasmurdered, is dedicated to translatingthe "great reservoir of good will to-ward Negroes among DelawareCounty citizens" into action. Underthe direction of the Rev. William R.Yeats, the group is trying to raiseat least $lOO,OOO from the white com-munity in the area.

Any money collected will be donatedwithout condition "to representativeschosen among and by Chester's blackcommunity, including existing neigh-borhood and church groups." Thesepeople would be able to spend themoney as they chose, without anydirection from the Fund; among theprojects might be "a black mobilearts and crafts center and library;credit unions and other cooperativebusiness ventures; emergency fundsto forestall illegal evictions, for legalaid, for bail bonds."-

In addition to encouraging contri-butions, the Dr. Martin Luther KingChester Freedom Fund asks whitepeople to work as closely as they canwith organizations, such as CEPA,that are "helping to root out thecauses of distress in our society."

Contributions to the Fund shouldbe sent to The Rev. William R. Yets,Middletown Presbyterian Church, Box73, Elwyn, Pennsylvania 19063.

Upward Bound Funds LostBut StillPlans for Residents

Swarthmore's Upward Boundplans to introduce a partial resi-dential program this summer in spiteof a cutback in OEO funds. The pre-ninth grade program has been drop-ped because of a lack of money.Other innovations center on a wideruse of college facilities, especially thelibrary, which was inaccessible dur-ing construction last year.

Those entering eleventh and twelfthgrades will live on campus duringthe week, sharing a. dorm with thecounsellors. The purpose of thischange, according to John Morrow,director of studies for the summer,is to allow counsellors to assign morework and to supervise the study con-ditions—in general to "up the aca-demic ante."

The goals for the summer will bethe same as in the previous two years.The staff hopes to increase studentmotivation during the seven-weekperiod by making learning more in-teresting, helping the students (gen-erally "underachievers") find indi-vidual answers to the question "Why

study?", and opening opportunitiesfor them. Basic skills, especially read-ing, are stressed so that students canovercome deficiencies blocking basicunderstanding and an appreciation oflearning.

The core subjects for study will bemath, English and social, studies.Much of the work will be remedial.Other topics will be determined bystudent and faculty interests. Thedaily program includes classes in themorning, with more of a tutoring thana classroom atmosphere, and interestgroups for enrichment in the after-noon. The Swarthmore students whoare counsellors also serve as faculty.Their duties will now also includedirecting evening study halls for thoseon campus.

Fete Features Unique FolkReview by Dave Huntington

An individual's performance ofhis own material, especially in thefolk vein, is rather a personal thing.Much more so than a group, a loneperformer has an opportunity to com-municate something more than justhis music. Friday night in a modifiedfolk concert, both Joni Mitchell andJohn Fahey took advantage of thisopportunity but in different ways,therefore appealing to different kindsof people.

Although Joni Mitchell's deliveryis a derivative of Judy Collins', acomparison is unfair, for her youth,freshness, and inexperience can't becompared to Judy Collins' more ma-ture and generally more powerfulstyle. Miss Mitchell was a little un-sure of herself, but really had noreason to be, for she had a lovelyvoice and a fine lyrical sense in herphrasing. Taking advantage of opentunings, her guitar was always ade-quate, and in some songs, the Cali-fornia kitchen songs for example, itbecame an integral part of the song

not just background. Her songswere very personal, about people sheknew or places and things she hadenjoyed or that saddened her; but

since everyone's experiences aren't thesame, she sacrificed universality inher songs, cutting down her appeal tosome people. Her themes were com-mon ones, (loneliness, alienation, joyof "being alive") and I felt that onlythe depth of feeling behind them andthe delicate way in which they werehandled saved them from being trite.In all, however, her performance wasquite good and should improve withexperience and confidence.

UNIQUENESSJohn Fahey's performance was the

more interesting because of the un-iqueness of his music and his per-formance on stage. His manner atfirst put me off for it struck me asan "act" but soon I realized that'sjust the way John Fahey is CocaCola and all. His relaxed, half-comicmanner gradually created a rapportwith most of the audience and great-ly added to the performance.

Fahey's guitar style is usuallysimply described as "unique", and itwould be hard to pin it down further;as he said, "I know what I'm doing,but you may not know what I'mdoing." The sound of the guitar was

lege have been cancelled until1:00 today in observerance of thefuneral this morning of Dr. MartinLuther King, Jr. In a number ofgatherings during the day membersof the community will meet silentlyand in discussion groups to con-sider the man and the racial prob-lems that continue to plague the coun-try in the aftermath of his death.

In proclaiming the suspension, ofmorning classes and the half-day off

by Ken Robertsfor employees of 'the College, Presi-dent Smith also called for a silentgathering in the amphitheater at 9:30a.m. to honor the slain civil rightsleader, whose funeral will commenceat about 10:30 in Atlanta, Georgia.Parts of the funeral services will betelevised.

In addition, a number of campusgroups have jointly organized discus-sion meetings in which members ofthe community may share theirthoughts and feelings on race rela-tions. The groups will form at 1:00in the afternoon. They will be led bymembers of SASS and other students,and will proceed informally to dis-cuss any problem of interests to thegroup.

The Christian Association willsponsor a fast at dinner. In the eve-ning from 6:30 to 8:00 the Friends'Meeting House will be open for mem-bers of the community to review insilence the day's events and theirmeaning.

Plans for the day grew out of ameeting of Student Council members,proctors, and several other interestedpeople at Sunday lunch. Dan Nuss-baum presented a proposal for a fullday's suspension of college functionsin recognition of the funeral of Dr.

King and of the weighty problem ofrace relations of which that eventmust make Americans acutely aware.

After a long discussion of the aimsof such an observance, the two dozenstudents voted unanimously to submitto President Courtney Smith a requestthat he declare a full day of mourningfor King. The group planned memorialobservances for the morning, and forthe afternoon, discussion groups whichwould bring together students, fac-ulty, and especially the members ofthe maintenance and kitchen staffs,many of whom are Negro, and with

whom students have had little op-portunity to discuss reactions to theassassination of Dr. King.

Kirk Roose, SC president, presentedthe group's request to PresidentSmith. Later in the afternoon Smithreplied to Roose that he would de-clare an official period of mourninguntil 1:00 on Tuesday, and suspendclasses and release all but essentialemployees until that time. Roose re-ported that Mr. Smith shared thestudents' desire for a memorial ob-servance, but that he felt ttie shorterperiod would serve to focus feelingsand thoughts without drawing out toundue length the official period ofmourning, which began here with asilent vigil on Friday. He stressedthat an important part of facing thegrief and tension of such a situationis to return in due time to normal.

Students then set to work to getreschedules, to free students and pro-fessors for the discussions, and fromafternoon classes, labs, and seminarsthe distraction that classes wouldcause in their period of mourning and

SC Sees Success in Committee;Issues Small, But Errors Few

Student Council adopted a rareevaluative attitude Thursday eve-ning as it considered its role in stu-dent life this semester. Occurringafter the transaction of routine busi-ness concerning the yearbook andproctor selection, this type of discus-sion represents a step toward mak-ing Council a bit relevant tothe students.

The discussion was sparked by acouple of questions concerning Coun-cil posed by President Kirk Roose:"What have we done?" and "How arewe coming across to the students?"Regarding the former, members feltthat SC had been out of the actionthis semester with the major deci-sions being made in SAC and theDanforth groups. Council was doingwhat it could to promote the studentviewpoint in the deliberations of thefaculty and the Board of Managers.It also concerned itself with the rou-tine tasks presented it by groups andindividuals.

STAGNANT APATHYAs to the students' view of Coun-

cil, members detected that it was atleast not any worse. There was agree-ment on no increase having takenplace in "hard-core bitterness," thanksto the lack of any disasters like theHamburg Show controversy. How-ever, it seemed that in the absence oflarge-scale blunders a strong apathy

This talk of apathy and routinetasks turned discussion toward Coun-cil's role in student life. It was sug-gested by Nanvy Bekavac that SChad no set role other than to do theroutine chores and to exist as a "crisismechanism" for solving problems. Ifthis was the case, and the view wasgenerally accepted, what then couldCouncil do to make itself useful be-sides operating efficiently?

At this point it was suggested bythis reporter .that" Dean Barr had ex-plained a number of possibilities forvery relevant service by Council ear-lier this semester. When he appearedbefore Council, the Dean had men-tioned the need for student studies ofcounselling, social life, and drugs andhad expressed his belief that suchstudies would be invaluable. The re-sponse from Council included thelateness in the school year and theconstraints upon members' time asfactors impeding action.

Although no concrete proposalscame out of Thursday's discussion,Council had performed a vital insti-tutional function often neglected inthe pressing business of the moment.Evaluation can give direction to Coun-cil's activities and make its work, ifnot more relevant to the students,then more effective of their behalf.

Because of the elimination of thepre-ninth grade group, Upward Boundwill have no new students this sum-mer. The return percentage is good,however, with only a few lost to sum-mer jobs. About 65 students, the ma-jority boys, will participate. Swarth-more finds students for the programthrough contacts in Chester and otherarea high schools.

The staff, under Director RichardMalacrea and Coordinator Mrs. CarlBarus, will be the same size as inprevious years: five teachers andthirteen counsellors (eight boys, fivegirls). Prof. Edward Skeath of themath department will teach, alongwith area high school teachers. Re-turning counsellors are Diane Batts,Robin Darr, Pat Layne, Bill Dorsey(Head Counsellor), Danny Nuss-baum, and Howard Vickery. Morrow,Who was Assistant Director last sum-mer and a counsellor in the ip 6 pro-gram, will also serve as a consultantthis summer, observing other UpwardBound programs for the federal ad-ministrators.

transmitted fairly well for Clothier,each note as clearly picked as onhis records. The guitar was almostalways in an open tuning and Faheyused the drones characteristic of suchtunings extensively. A typical Faheypiece might start with the thumb pickslowly brushing a few preliminarychord patterns, then evolve into adriving pattern maintained by thethumb on the bass strings, while hisindex and middle fingers played theupper strings. In-contrast to a Travispick, he could vary the rhythm ofhis fingers while keeping the thumbconstant.

SOMETHING NEWAlso very interesting was his use

of the dobro or metal slide. With aHawaiian guitar, the strings were alittle higher off the fjngerboard andwhen placed on the knees dulcimer-like, a characteristic, almost glissandosound can be made. Fahey, however,avoided both the original Hawaiianmusic and the American adaption"bottle neck blues," and came up withsomething new.

For-those who stayed to the 1:15a.m. conclusion, it was an exhaustingbut satisfying experience. The stagewas littered with cigarette butts,empty coke bottles, and half-asleeppeople. Almost all semblances of aperformance disappeared; formal re-lations between performer and audi-ence disappeared. John Fahey wasjust playing and we listened. Finallybringing the evening to a solid close,he abandoned open tunings, tuned tothe standard tuning and played ahymn: 'ln Christ There Is No Eastor West'." One of the things he saidstuck with me: "The only time I liketo play is when I'm doing somethingnew or playing for other people."

praise for pianist Warren Bernhardtas the core of the group and as theinitiator of most of their fluid transi-tions. His frequent use of the elec-tric piano was always appropriate,and the variety of sounds he evokedfrom it were always effective. EdgarGomez on amplified bass was whatall good bassists should be. His rhyth-mic background was always presentbut fvever ostentatious, and his soloswere brief, controlled, and inspired.Drummer Donald MacDonald pro-vided both a solid, driving backboneand an interesting complement to theother soloists. Adrian Guillery is amaster of the blues guitar, uncom-monly fast, although occasionally out

of tune. He was less at home withthe more progressive parts, but for-tunately did not overplay them. Hisvoice was far from golden, but oftensoulful, and used often like anothersolo instrument.

In all, Jeremy and the Satyrs gavea most unusual and fascinating per-formance which was received by alargely appreciative audience with astanding ovation. The Satyrs obligedwith a lengthy encore which was defi-nitely anticlimactic, but which did notwarrant the immature hissing fromsome which came seconds before theywere obviously about to finish. Under-standably, their performance was toolong for those who do not like jazz,but it was beautifully exhausting tothose who did and who followed theirtransitions. Jeremy and the Satyrscannot help but be an important in-fluence . on the contemporary musicscene, and they were not out of placeat a rock festival, since rock is turn-ing more and more to improvisation.

INITIAL IMAGE POORThe second half of the concert was

taken up by the Group Image Bandand Light Show. After a weak startwith a too-common progression theme,and an unsuccessful attempt to soundlike the Jefferson Airplane in "GrewUp All Wrong," they picked up asthe lights cast a red and black lineeffect across the whole stage whilethe band moved into a slow, bluesynumber, "Aunt Ida," that showed thefirst signs of vocal competence andof a fairly good lead guitarist, bothin the person of "Freddy." They fol-lowed with first a fast and then aslow version of "I Know We'll SeeSome Sunny Days," and the juxtapo-sition was nice. They continued tobuild up in intensity (and volume)to a final number which included along, ear-shattering psychedelic breakaccompanied by their giant strobe anda rapid alternation of two movie bill-ings. For an audience which had en-dured the uncomfortable Clothie'r forover four hours, this final bombard-ment was almost too much to take,but under other circumstances mighthave been quite effective.

Mention should be made of Sheila,their principal lead singer and go-gogirl.- Although occasionally off key,her voice was powerful and even im-pressive at times.

LIGHT ENTERTAINMENTWhatever they may have lacked

musically was compensated for by atruly elaborate light show, which in-cluded amoeba-like drop patterns,film clips, cartoons, Howdy Doody,

scenes from a forgery, and a film-strip of New York City at night whichdrew appropriate hisses from thecrowd as a police car cruised by. TheGroup Image was more entertainingthan most rock groups, and probablywould have been better received ifthey had appeared on a differentnight, for the Saturday night concertwas too long. Nevertheless, our thanksare in order to Warren Phinney andhis festival committee for bringinggroups such as the Group Image andespecially Jeremy and the Satyrs toSwarthmore.

taut routine business SC heard alengthy report from, Frank Easter-brook concerning The Halcyon. Anadditional appropriation of $5,000from the college was approved to "puta yearbook on every shelf" withoutany extra charge to the student. Atpresent a substantial sum from theGreen Card Fund pays much of theyearbook's expense and those studentswho want it pay a price of $0.50. Be-cause of the Green Card Fund appro-priation, students not buying TheHalcyon pay $4.00 for that privilegeand its actual cost is $10.50. With theextra grant and savings from print-ing costs, every student would receivea Halcyon with no charge other thanthe general fee.

Council expressed its opinion thatthe $5,000 might be put to some bet-ter use elsewhere in the Green CardFund and that SC would prefer tocontrol the funds. The offer, however,was made especially to rehabilitateThe Halcyon and learning this, Coun-cil was reluctant to pass up a gooddeal and approved the move. Easter-brook also secured Council's approvalfor a proposal to change the publi-cation date of The Halcyon from Mayto September. The advantages of themove would include coverage of thelast half of the year, a 10 percentsavings in printing fees, winter andspring color pictures, and a less-harried staff. On the advice of Eas-terbrook SC approved the proposal,feeling that these advantages far out-weighed the disadvantages of theplan (mailing costs, seniors not hav-ing the yearbook by graduation),

The Prdctor Selection Committeewas also appointed in closed session.Members of the committee, which willinterview and select next year's proc-tros, are seniors Lew Lutton, WallyAdamson, Bob Suter, Dick Andrews,and Joe Wilson (chairman), juniorsJohn Ellis and Dave Thoenen, sopho-mores Andy Schaefer and Jeff Roem-mel, and freshman Pat Connell.

Lithagraphs CoutAn exhibition has finally come

to Wilcox Gallery which is ex-citing and meaningful as a true signof what is going on in contemporaryart. The four artists are amongAmerica's most respected young ar-tists, particularly Johns and Rauschen-berg. Most of them have been moreor less involved at some time withPop art and the effects of Dada. Allfour of them are the artists who havemore or less set themselves in oppo-sition to abstract expressionism.

Jim Dine, represented by only onelithograph, is a pop artist who deniesany relationship to the Dada artists.In his efforts to be objective, Dinehas used the pop image as part of

Ithi landscape of his art. ToothbrushesIV, although not, strictly speaking,using pop images, is in this spirit.The glass and the three toothbrushes

[suspended beside it are used, the sur-rounding black splotches preventingany sense of shiny newness. Theimage as a whole is part of our ownlaiger landscape.

In this same tradition is JamesRosenquist. One of the first. of thepop artists, his earlier billboardlikeworks were organized lrke Cubistworks, squared-off pieces of imagesbeing juxtaposed in unusual combina-tions. The three lithographs of his inthis show are somewhat of a change.The style is freer and more open.Only one of them, Roll Down, heark-ens back to his earlier creations. Inthin one two carefully done paintingsoi the" side of a car, with part of thewitulow and the handle are placednixt to each other, one higher tharthe other.

Itosenquist's other two lithographsIhyh Pool and Dustiyiy off Roses arein his newer approach. The colorsare applied more freely. The formsarc no longer confined by their ownrectangularity. I think this new styleand these lithographs lack the forceof Rosenquist's earlier statements.There is a sense of isolation and de-tachment in these, but less than isin Roll Dowv.

With the works of Robert Rauschen-berg we seem to move into a wholenew world. This is the world of photo-montage, ,of hurried images seenagainst the blur 'of background.Rnuschenberg says that he is trying

Students Unable to Shun WarIn Int'l Politics Simulation

performed by International Poli-tics students three nights last weekwas the first such experiment to betried by the Swarthmore Political Sci-ence Department. . Inexperience andconfusion on the part of both studentparticipants and directors caused anumber of problems.

The simulation whs divided into twoworlds, each" containing seven count-ies. In an attempt to reproduce theinternational system as closely aspossible, nations were allowed toti'ade, accelerate economic develop-ment, develop nuclear capabilities anddeclare wars.

All gains and losses were calcu-lated by means of special simulationformulas' whose complexity causedsome difficulties. The ..World Presswas the major source of informationto each country concerning othercountries. During the course of thesimulation, meetings of the Inter-national Organization, and trade anddisarmament conferences providedother sources of information, and op-portunities for discussion.

The developments in the two worldsas the simulation progressed were in-teresting. Both worlds began the sim-ulation with declarations by each

country declaring; a desire for worldpeace, international cooperation, andsolid friendship among" nations. Thefirst few periods consisted mainly oftrade agreements, a few non-aggres-sion and mutual defense alliances,and meetings of the International Or-ganization.

NUCLEAR ATTACKSThe simulation lasted seven periods.

The fourth period brought a nuclearwar to the second world which des*troyed one country. In the first world,one of the major powers organizeda collective security system in thefifth period to counter a suspectedbelligerent nation. By the final per-iod, the conflict situation had preci-pitated a war in which the belligerent,a rapidly industrializing nation, wascompletely subdued by one of the ma-jor nuclear powers.

The simulation experiment was ex-tremely effective in reproducing theinternational system and allowing theparticipants to act "as realisticallyas possible as statesmen, heads ofstate, and other govrnment officials.With repetition in future years, mostof the problems and inconvenienceswill be ironed out, and the exper-ience can be eonsidei'ed a valuablelearning aid to students of internation-al politics.

greater than if Rauschenbera hadcreated his own athletes. Superim-posed over the wholp is a translucentcane, beside which is printed a littlesign—"Cane from St. V." The longerone looks at a Rauschenberg the morethat emerges from the surroundinggrey and black washes.

The last of the four artists, JasperJohns, is best represented. His sevenlithographs show a great variety instyle and subject matter, from therough simplicity of Voice, to theposter-like cleanness of Kenneth KochPoem. Perhaps the most interesting,and one of the better examples ofJohns' avowed intent is Watchman."I am concerned," Johns says, "witha thing's not being what it was." Thisstate of flux is clear in Watchman.The man, sliding out of his chair, inthe upper right-hand corner is nolonger a watchman. The names of thecolors fade into a dark mist. Thecolors are greyed over. The blue slashat the bottom is stopped short.

The exhibit as a whole is outstand-ing. The artists have set themselveschallenging, goals and achieve thembrilliantly. The prints are excitingfor themselves and for their place incontemporary art. There should bemore exhibits like this one.

Peace Corps RepresentativeUrges Alternative to Nihilism

months ago might have been im-pressed with something unexpectedat Swarthmore student apathy.This same stranger on the scene to-day is impressed with something moreinsidious than apathy a despairmounting to near-nihilism.

Negativism is more active thannothing, yet it demands little energy.It seems glib enough to argue thatpeace drip? more sweat than war,and that is precisely what the Es-tablishment all too often lamely as-serts. So it becomes a matter of theusual credibility gap, reinformed inthis writer's case, with a flagrantdisavowal of the Hatch Act, one ofthe more medieval of the FederalGovernment's laws.

How much, then, is peace dripping?Peace Corps, for one, is picketed

on some campuses as a stooge of theState Department, ignored on othersas a supporter of United Fruit inLatin America, or decried for sup-porting the war, or dumped as alackey of the CIA, or worst of all,

held in contempt as a bunch of naivecultural imperialists.

Peace Corps, for one, does not sup-port the war, (being an undeclaredwaf, it must still require a lowercase 'w'). And it will be on campusonce again this week. It asks for anactive and positive commitment fromstudents, many of whom have neverbeen committed to anything- moredefinite than a vague desire for peace

shrouded in the tatters of security.It is not too soon for juniors to

consider the alternatives, nor too latefor seniors to demand the alternatives.Underclassmen are advised to concen-trate in Buddhist fashion on the pos-sibilities.
