Motivation/Opportunity• FI methodologies currently rely on using more than one solution

with varying degrees of success and associated cost. • These solutions have active/passive components attached to most

pins which makes it difficult to perform accurate 4 quadrant testing and preventing interactive ESD. They also require some level of functionality to perform testing.

• Our proposed PFIT system provides a pure connection between an industry standard calibrated tester and the DUT. No functionality of the DUT is required for parametric troubleshooting and bin 8 testing.

• The expected decrease in TPT of this system is as much as 100x in some cases.

• This system is not intended to compete with existing solutions, but rather fill the testing gaps that currently exist.

Proposed Solution• Develop TIU• Reuse SBTS Interposer• Universal Backplane PCB• Product Specific Family PCB• NI Interface Unit• Interconnection Cables

• Develop Automated LabView Tests• Power On High Z• Curve Tracing• Latch Up Testing• Short on Power• TIVA MUX• Automated Report Generation

• Provide Documentation• Copy exactly for other sites

Approximate Cost• The complete cost of a new system is less than $100k and includes

a calibrated National Instruments PXI Windows 7 system with an integrated rack, multiple source measurement units, multi-channel multiplexers, and Agilent power supplies that provide 16 power rails.

• The system price also includes National Instruments LabView and Switch Executive Software as well as all cabling and circuit boards.

• Since the system uses the same interposers as the SBTS, the only long-term cost is the development of a new family board for each product (expected cost is ~$6k for design and manufacture).

• The project is being developed by a small team through collaboration with Portland State University.
