Greetings and salutations to all of our phellow Parrot Heads members; 55 members of our club will be attending this year’s Meeting of the Minds, hope you are 1 of them, and, if luck prevails, we will bring home the Trop Rock Music Associations “Event of the Year” award for “Riddles In the Sand #20”! You must be a member of the TRMA in order to vote for this category. We are up against some strong completion, so wish us all luck. And, I am pleased to announce, that our club did enter an essay in the contest for the PHIP’s “Golden Coconut Award” which will be presented to the top club of 2016! Our club won it in 2010, and it would be AWESOME to be the 1st PH club to win it twice and bring that one of a kind trophy home again! Reminder: Our clubs Christmas/Birthday party is Saturday night Dec. 2nd at the Kemah Elks Club. A flyer has been created and passed around with all of the details. Friendly reminder: Your 2018 dues are coming up, due the 1st of the year! Please see your Director of Membership, Karen Mignola for payment amount and/or any questions you might have. Also, good time to update all of your info, such as email address, contact number, Island name, etc. Our club’s yearly AHOD (All Hands On Deck) meeting is scheduled for 11/11/17 at Railean’s Buccaneer Bar. 1:30 PM start time. If unfamiliar with the AHOD meeting, all clubs are required to hold such, short-ly after the annual Meeting of the Minds Event. This is basically a “State of the Club” get together. Our time to let you know what happened this past year, what we think we want to do as we go forward and it is also your time to hit us with your best shot! Has the club done a good job this past year? Have we done too much? Too little? This is your club, any ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc. please speak up. Your input is valuable! When all is said and done……………………then we drink! Time to gather all of your tab tops, corks, unused cash, unused cell phones, old eye glasses, etc. and give to either Pege Wright or Karen Mignola. The total count of our collections are added to our clubs “Year End Report” that we have to send to the Mothership, PHIP (Parrot Heads In Paradise). Club merchandise is always available! Pins, magnets, phun meters, shirts, hats, etc. contact Nancy Boling in person or drop her a line at [email protected] for all of your needs. The pro-ceeds from these sales are used as seed money to start up the Mardi Gras parade pre-party, the chili-cook-off, etc. We are thinking about a new line of merchandise, any design ideas would be appreciat-ed! We also have some official Buffett merchandise available to our members. Your NEW officers beginning in 2018 will be Richard Presley, President. Connie Harrison, Historian. Karen Mignola, Membership and Stephen Woods, Communications. All ran un-opposed. They will be joining Vice President Alan Coffman, Secretary Linda Ruhl, Treasurer Steve Elliott, Charity Pege Wright and Phun Director Kevin Ware. Your new officers will be seated 1/1/2018. Thanks, Rick “Conch Head” Nenninger President, GBPHC 2010 Golden Coconut Award Winner Member, TRMA
