now is found!
Are you missing a hat, an earring, or maybe your reading glasses? Can’t find your Rosary Beads? Misplaced your cane? Don’t want to tell your spouse you’ve lost your wedding band? Are you climbing through your basement window because you can’t find your house keys? Or maybe you’re hot-wiring your car every morning because you can’t find your car keys? Is your friend wondering why she never saw you wearing those nice leather gloves she bought you for Christmas?
If so, stop by the Altar Servers’ Sacristy in the Church to see if your long lost item is in our Lost & Found box.

Greetings and God‟s blessings be yours on the
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time! The
scriptures on this final Sunday of June talk of how
God wants creation to live and be whole. In the first
reading from the Book of Wisdom, God made us to
be imperishable, but sin interrupts his divine
intention. “But by envy of the devil, death entered
the world, and they who belong to his company
experience it.” Psalm 30 proclaims that God’s good
will is for a lifetime, but God’s anger is only a
fading moment. “You changed my mourning into
dancing; O Lord, my God, forever will I give you
thanks.” Then in Paul’s Second Letter to the
Corinthians, we are encouraged to take care of the
poor in our good times, for then everyone has good
times. Paul even quotes the ancient texts to
emphasize his point. “As it is written: Whoever had
much did not have more, and whoever had little did
not have less.” And finally in Mark’s gospel, we
see how a day in the life of Jesus presents one need
after another. There is Jarius’ daughter and the
women afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years.
Both needs are met by faith in Jesus and the use of
his touch. The woman with hemorrhages touches
Jesus and the hand of Jairus’s daughter is touched by
Jesus. “She had heard about Jesus and came up
behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.”
He took the child by hand and said to her, „Talitha
koum,‟ which means, „Little girl, I say to you,
arise!‟” You ever go through a time when you just
couldn’t get anything done? Sometimes the weather
keeps knocking us back like last winter. Funny
thing, though, now that it is summer, the situation
may seem to be the same. You start a task-and the
phone rings, e-mail bleeps, or attention is captured
by some other matter that suddenly appears and is
urgent or irresistible. All excuses aside, life is an
endless series of interruptions that are overcome
only be the final interruption of death. If you‟re not
being interrupted, you‟re not living. I think Jesus would agree, escaping one mob after
another throughout Galilee. Mark has Jesus staying
close to the shore with a boat handy to make a quick
getaway. However an important man, Jairus, breaks
through the throng and pleads with Jesus to save his.
little girl’s life. Whatever Jesus was planning to do
was abandoned to follow Jairus. So too does the
immense crowd except for one woman who has her
own agenda. She reaches out to snatch a miracle
from him. And guess what? It works. She is the
only biblical character who steals a healing,
startling even Jesus. This interruption is quite
singular for the Son of God. And Jesus had to
acknowledge it and her. Then the other interruption
is Jarius’ daughter dying. Jesus says now is the time
for faith not fear. He enters the house and stops the
mourning. Then he interrupts death itself by
restoring the child who rises and walks about like a
normal child again. Yet this is not a normal
circumstance. This explosively normal activity was
the premier interruption of the afternoon, shattering
all expectations. No one seems to know how to push
the reset button and continue with this day.
Interruptions were after all, Jesus‟ business.
Perhaps it would be good for us to also treat our own
daily distractions with a little more respect and
attention. But most of all, no matter what is
happening, “Do not be afraid; always have faith.”
Please remember to take home a copy of the
bulletin when you leave Mass today. It contains
many items of interest and invitation, with
something for everyone. Of special note is news and
needs from Parish Social Ministry, info from
Religious Education, the current schedule for the
final week of the Fortnight for Freedom, follow-up
for the Spiritual Adoption Program sponsored by
the Human Life Committee, the send-off for this
year’s Mission Awareness Trip to Guatemala, the
latest 2015 Catholic Ministries Appeal Update and
much more. To keep informed, keep a copy of the
bulletin at home each week for quick and easy
reference.
Have a great final days of June and beginning
days of July. Join in Adoration to pray for
Religious Freedom on Thursday afternoon, July
2nd from 1-4pm in the church, and then enjoy your
July Fourth observance next Saturday. Smile,
share and remember: The kind of tea that the
colonists thirsted for was liberty! God bless always

"Imagine yourself pausing in front of a design of great beauty. Your soul is filled with wonder and awe. If art, created by man, can invoke such a response in us, how much more is the same wonder, reverence and respect due to each person we encounter, who was handcrafted by God? Now think of an artist stepping back from a great work of art and admiring his or her creation. When God created each of us, He did so with precision and purpose, and He looks on each of us with love that cannot be outdone in intensity or tenderness. Moreover, the Lord invites each of us to behold ourselves and each other with the same wonder and awe. No matter how the world might view us or others, let us treat each person as the masterpiece that he or she is." --U.S.Catholic Conference
"Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God's creation, made in His own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect." --Pope Francis' Day for Life Greeting

O GOD OUR CREATOR, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome— for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us— this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fortnight Closing Mass to be held at St. Agnes Cathedral on Saturday, July 4th, 9am.
Those who are strident in enabling the destruction of life are working feverishly to remove the very ability to choose life. These efforts, when correctly explained, are not accepted by voters so they are being advanced by administrative regulation and activist judges. Through insurance regulations and licensing of doctors, nurses and hospitals, the choice for life can be taken away and Americans, who would preserve life, could even be forced to actively participate in the taking of life or lose their career and livelihood.
Freedom to choose life is paramount to millions of Americans. This conscience driven
choice must be defended as the constitutional first amendment right of all. Choosing to
preserve the life of the pre-born child as well as end of life decisions can be taken from us as
surely as millions of Americans now are unknowingly subsidizing abortions through their
new medical insurance.
Those who defend life as sacred from conception to natural death are denigrated for “waging a war on women” or denying someone “death with dignity.” Cardinal Dolan answers, “We do not impose our conscience beliefs; we ask only to be left alone to follow our consciences.” Catholics follow the example of Jesus to be compassionate, generous and loving members of society but should never be forced to put government’s dictates before the commandments of God.
“As good citizens we always pay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar.
But that good commitment to a good society can never be corrupted by
asking us to compromise what belongs to God.” — Bishop William Murphy

CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL
“Serving God by Serving Others”
Every year the Catholic Ministries Appeal provides the means to continue the mission that Christ has
entrusted to us: to serve, to educate, to care for the poor and to be a beacon of hope. The ministries,
agencies and programs that benefit from the appeal allow us to fulfill the mission given to us as
Catholics.
We are counting on you, the members of our St. Raymond Parish Family to participate in this most
important campaign for the ministries and programs of our Church and for all who depend on
them. More than 600,000 people each year, many from our own communities are served through the
funds raised in the appeal.
To all of you who have already responded through the mailing sent from the appeal office, I am so
grateful for your generosity. You are truly a blessing!
As your pastor, I want you to know that I too financially support the Catholic Ministries Appeal and
I have confidence that our parish will do its very best to once again make the Catholic Ministries Appeal
successful. We came close in 2014 and I believe we can definitely make it this year. Remember that St.
Raymond’s will also benefit financially when we are successful in reaching our goal in payment by the
end of the calendar year. We stand to receive 20% of any money raised up to the goal and then 80% of
any money raised over the goal amount. Because we were close to our goal for 2014, our partial
rebate totaled $12,080.00. That is great and a much needed boost to our parish’s bottom line. There
are pledge cards and envelopes on the pew shelves by all the doors for you take home. Many people
also make their pledge/donation directly to the appeal office in Rockville Centre. We get full credit for
all those too.
If everyone in our parish family contributed according to their means we could easily reach our goal
and even go beyond. Then, not only will we be helping the diocese fund these many important
ministries but St. Raymond’s would also reap a sizable rebate. And that would be great!
Please remember that no gift is too small and all gifts make a difference to someone‟s life. As
Pope Francis reminds us all……….. “a Church without charity does not exist.”
Below is our 2015 CMA goal and the current totals. Thanks for your help. God bless always
