SPORTS Super describes football forum as ‘very productive’ In response to an inquiry, Oskaloosa USD 341 Superin- tendent Jon Pfau told the paper last Thursday in an email that the community forum held Nov. 5 to discuss the current status of the football program at Os- kaloosa High School was “very productive” and that “many positive ideas” were shared at that time. Pfau reported that not count- ing himself, the football coaches and Athletic Director Rob Mill- er, about 45 people attended the meeting, which took place in the library at the school complex. He said he was “very encour- aged” by and appreciative of both the turnout for the event and “the problem solving nature of the meeting.” Pfau went on to point out that the timing of the meeting, early November, demonstrates that there is “a strong willing- ness” on the part of the district to make sure that it continues to have “a viable and competitive” football program for students in grades 7-12. Finally, based on what he came away from the meeting with, the superintendent had this prediction to make: “I think that USD 341 will see a variety of positive changes moving forward in not just football, but all of our extracurricular activi- ties,” he remarked. Bear Bash is Friday Bear Bash, which is essen- tially a preview of Oskaloosa High School’s winter sports programs, will bring students, parents and others to the school complex on Friday. The event will be getting underway at 6 p.m. with a chili dinner. Starting at 7, the vari- ous teams are to be introduced. And beginning at 7:30, there will be basketball to watch, as both the varsity boys team and the varsity girls team will be taking on teams comprised of OHS alumni. Fundraiser to benefitJCNHS hoops program The basketball program at Jefferson County North High School stands to benefit from a fundraiser that will be taking place at the school next Tues-day. According to an online flier promoting the event, the fund-raiser consists of a “Free Will donation dinner” that is to be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A meal made up of pulled pork, baked beans, potatoes, dessert and lemonade or water is planned, and the money received that evening will be used to purchase “The Gun”, a programmable machine that allows players to practice their shooting from various spots on the court. Following dinner, those pres-ent will be able to watch some basketball in the gymnasium from 7 to 8. The schedule calls for the girls basketball team to scrimmage first and for the boys team to do so later. There will be activities between the two scrimmages, according to the flier.

Super describesfootball forum as‘very productive’ In response to an inquiry, Oskaloosa USD 341 Superin-tendent Jon Pfau told the paper last Thursday in an email that the community forum held Nov. 5 to discuss the current status of the football program at Os-kaloosa High School was “very productive” and that “many positive ideas” were shared at that time. Pfau reported that not count-ing himself, the football coaches and Athletic Director Rob Mill-er, about 45 people attended the meeting, which took place in the library at the school complex. He said he was “very encour-aged” by and appreciative of both the turnout for the event and “the problem solving nature of the meeting.” Pfau went on to point out that the timing of the meeting, early November, demonstrates that there is “a strong willing-ness” on the part of the district to make sure that it continues to have “a viable and competitive” football program for students in grades 7-12. Finally, based on what he came away from the meeting with, the superintendent had this prediction to make: “I think that USD 341 will see a variety of positive changes moving forward in not just football, but all of our extracurricular activi-ties,” he remarked.

Bear Bashis Friday Bear Bash, which is essen-tially a preview of Oskaloosa High School’s winter sports programs, will bring students, parents and others to the school complex on Friday. The event will be getting underway at 6 p.m. with a chili dinner. Starting at 7, the vari-ous teams are to be introduced. And beginning at 7:30, there will be basketball to watch, as both the varsity boys team and the varsity girls team will be taking on teams comprised of OHS alumni.
