I joined PwC as a graduate. I know from my own experience that by being yourself, and bringing your passion, commitment and flexibility to all that you do, you’ll develop a rewarding and fulfilling career with us. I’m committed to ensuring our people have the opportunities they need to unlock their potential, to play to their strengths and to be themselves, so I hope you’ll consider starting your career with us.
Kevin EllisChairman and Senior Partner, PwC UK LLP

And although the work we do will vary, the way we work will not. We make sure all our people are prepared for the challenges of the future through our global leadership framework, The PwC Professional.
We aspire to be an organisation driven by a clear purpose, where each of our people is passionate about helping to build trust in society and solve complex problems. It’s this passion for making a difference, to our clients and to each other, that we believe makes us an inspiring backdrop for your career.
We’ll be transparent about our impact on the environment and we’ll show you how PwC is about people as much as it is about numbers. Be part of something special and find out how your drive and initiative could open up new opportunities for you and our clients.

Actuaries work with uncertainty. Join us and you’ll help clients analyse how future events – anything from a corporate take-over to a major natural disaster – could affect them. You might be calculating the impact of changing demographics or legislation on pension schemes; the effects that changes in financial markets have on different organisations; or how likely a business is to be hit by an earthquake.
You’ll learn how to use complex financial and statistical theories to weigh up the risks and estimate the odds of what might happen. Just as important, you’ll develop a flair for presenting your findings in simple, easy-to-understand language. What’s more, early client exposure will broaden your experience. There are two business areas you can choose from – both among the leading actuarial practices in the UK.
In Actuarial Services you’ll work with clients from the insurance industry (both life and general insurance), but also from outside the insurance industry where you’ll work with clients from the banking sector (retail and investment), the healthcare sector, the public sector, as well as corporate clients from the non-financial services sector like energy and utility providers. Your advice could cover solvency, reserving, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, company restructuring and de-risking, financial modelling, underwriting, new legislation, the viability of new products and the efficiency of claims or reporting processes.
In People and Organisation you’ll work in either our Pensions team or Reward and Employment team.
In Pensions, you’ll work with a wide variety of companies, from large multinationals to private listed businesses. Using our market-leading pensions analytics tool, you’ll be part of the team advising them on how to best achieve their objectives in relation to their pension or benefit schemes. You’ll consult on how clients should manage both liability and asset risks within their pension plans, negotiate with trustees on how to fund schemes, design plans to help employees save for retirement and advise on potential mergers or acquisitions.
In Reward and Employment, you’ll help companies incentivise their most senior employees. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll use broad consulting skills underpinned by financial modelling techniques to develop reward structures that support business strategy and are acceptable to shareholders and employees alike.

You’ll get to work closely with the best in industry, finance and government in the UK and abroad, bringing fresh insights and motivation to the problems they face. Our clients might want us to help them enter new markets; address the challenges created by organisational change; or draw up a sustainability strategy that aligns their commercial objectives with broader environmental and social concerns.
You can choose to start in Management Consulting, where you’ll build core skills on a 21-month market-leading programme. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about what we do across our different consulting business areas and work with clients to drive innovation and growth, manage costs and operate effectively. This will help you decide where you might specialise within Consulting.
Or if you’d rather specialise straight away and have the necessary pre-requisites you can join one of four Consulting practices:
In Economics Consulting you’ll advise high-profile, senior-level clients in the public and private sectors, providing key insights and evidence to help inform their business and shape their organisations. Our work addresses the most complex business and policy issues facing our clients: navigating competition and state aid investigations and commercial disputes; shaping efficient and competitive markets; and framing and delivering big investments.
Strategy& is PwC’s Strategy Consulting practice. You’ll work on challenging and varied assignments – from helping a company identify attractive new markets, advising a private equity client on game-changing investments, to helping industry leaders solve their toughest corporate and mergers and acquisitions challenges.
In Sustainability and Climate Change Consulting you’ll help clients embed consideration of sustainability matters in their strategies and throughout their organisations; while helping them to make the most of the opportunities for innovation and growth, created by a world economy that’s becoming greener. Our work with international aid agencies also seeks to resolve some of the most pressing issues for the developing world including tackling climate change and poverty reduction.
In Technology Consulting you’ll work across all industry sectors, delivering projects from strategy through to implementation. Technology is at the heart of business and is often a key driver and enabler of change. We work with clients to define their vision and plan how to get there. By joining us you’ll help build a lasting legacy of improvement and performance, working with leading technologies such as Google for Work, Oracle, Blockchain, SAP and MS Dynamics.

Help put together major mergers and acquisitions and resolve business crises. You could work on anything from international take-over bids to economic crime investigations and cases of insolvency.
Corporate Finance offers a full range of financial advisory services, from acquisitions and disposals for corporate and private equity clients, to advice on infrastructure, energy and public sector projects. We operate across all industry sectors and your clients could range from corporates and private equity houses, to major government departments and private sector contractors and developers.
Or you could join one of the following areas through a shared scheme with Assurance:
Our Business Recovery Services practice is one of the UK’s largest. Here you’ll advise under-performing UK and European companies on restructuring, refinancing, accelerated mergers and acquisitions and insolvency – finding the best way forward for the business and its stakeholders.
In Forensic Services we help our clients to investigate, analyse and pre-empt a wide range of business risks and issues. These include major public enquiries, rogue trader or bribery allegations, and commercial and transactional disputes across all industry sectors. You could be involved in any one, or all of these types of engagements.
Transaction Services supports private equity firms, investment funds and corporate clients through mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Advising throughout the life of the deal, you’ll see both the buy and sell side of the work, develop specialist sector understanding and build key skills in financial due diligence.
Valuations are a diverse and collaborative team who work alongside clients to support them in making key commercial and strategic valuation decisions on business deals or restructuring, disputes, tax regulation and financial reporting. Valuing a business involves a blend of technical and industry knowledge, commercial and market insight and an inquisitive mind.

You’ll also help governments ensure the efficient operation of tax systems and use your insight to solve long-term problems.

In Corporate Tax you’ll help clients – from the largest organisations to budding entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals – manage their tax risk, understand their obligations and comply with complex legislation. You’ll tackle a broad range of work that includes multinational advisory projects, tax compliance and researching business issues that affect clients’ tax affairs.
In People and Organisation you’ll help some of the leading UK and international employers make the most of their biggest asset – their people. You could be involved in purely UK activities or global projects, working on more efficient internal processes or on a merger or acquisition.
In Tax Reporting and Strategy you’ll help businesses align their tax strategy with their wider business strategy, help to accelerate the impact of technology in tax, unlock data insights and meet their domestic and global compliance and reporting obligations.
By joining Tax you’ll also be involved with our innovative One Tax Rotation programme. This gives you the opportunity to work outside your normal team in Tax for up to six months and develop your transferable skills.

I’ve been involved in so many interesting pieces of work over the last two years, it’s hard to pick a standout project. That’s why I love this job – the sheer variety of experiences that are available to you. And, if you want to make a change, there’s always something different on offer.
Day-to-day, my main focus is developing a quality audit approach and ensuring it’s carried out accurately, by speaking to our component audit teams both in the UK and around the world.
The most exciting experience so far was going to Cyprus to take part in Altitude, our leadership development programme. I’m also hoping to be in New York on secondment this time next year.
I really enjoy the working culture here. I’ve developed a reputation with my team for hitting the gym really early in the morning, after being inspired by my former manager – really, it’s the best way to start the day.

Innovation at PwC
Partnerships are incredibly important to how we do things, so we have a strong focus on collaboration here. A great example is our alliance with Google for Work – a working relationship that enables us to deliver technology solutions that help our clients reinvent and innovate their businesses worldwide.
It’s a unique union that combines strengths from both sides. Google gives us access to a vast global network with the brainpower to solve challenging technical problems. And through us, Google can connect with a huge range of businesses in ways they never could before.
Since we began developing solutions together, we’ve transformed a wide range of businesses through technology. How many times have you seen workers digging up the same stretch of road time and time again? It might sound simple, but before we developed a bespoke web app, engineers at a major utilities company had no way of knowing who else was working in the same areas, so they weren’t able to coordinate their efforts. The app has increased efficiency, reduced disruption to the public and saved the company a lot of money.
We’ve also helped US Government departments and big retail processors to identify cyber threats that can occur almost daily and on a massive scale. With responsibility for huge volumes of sensitive and confidential data, they need to know if anyone is attempting to steal information or cause damage to their network by intercepting connections. We created a way to collect, transport and analyse these billions of connections, enabling threats to be identified, challenged and ultimately deflected.
So, by bringing together our understanding of client needs with Google’s powerful infrastructure, we can offer innovative solutions that continue to raise our profile in the world of technology. It’s an exciting collaboration to be part of – and we’re looking forward to seeing where it takes us.
PwC and Google for WorkReinventing business together
Our client – a leading game developer – asked us to produce a data assurance framework to help them track their sales revenue more effectively. As a mobile game company, tracking revenue can be a complicated process, as instead of the money heading straight to the game developer, the money from in-app purchases is transferred via the various application download platforms. Small amounts of money come in regularly, in different currencies, and these transactions are recorded differently by every platform. Therefore, accurately tracking this data is a complex process.
Although our client had built a bespoke in-house system to process the revenue data, the unconventional method of payments and the lack of invoices meant that they couldn’t be confident that everything was right. We worked closely with our client to understand their specific business needs and requirements. We then produced a model that enabled us to capture and analyse the data to produce a revenue figure that our client had confidence in. This solution added a significant level of benefit for our client, so much so that we’ll be repeating the process next year.
