The CONNECTION June Blessings, Friends! My article to you this month focuses on what I believe to be one of the most important missions that we have the current opportunity to participate in: Hurricane Michael Recovery. As most of you are aware, Category 5 Hurricane Michael made landfall on October 10, 2018 in Mexico Beach, FL and was still a Category 3 Hurricane when it came through our area. Lives were devastated by this tragedy and recovery efforts are needed and will be needed for years to come. At a recent clergy gathering, every pastor of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church was asked to please organize and send a mission team every year for the next five years minimum for hurricane recovery. I am excited to announce that we have secured the week of July 14-20, 2019 as our week to provide Hurricane Recovery help in Port St. Joe through our UMC Conference Coordinators. We need 15 volunteers to make plans now to be a part of this fabulous opportunity for ministry. You do not have to be ERT trained to help with these recovery efforts; you just need to be prayerful-ly ready to help with the vision of "rebuilding, repairing, and restoring homes that were damaged by Hurricane Michael, seeking to meet the needs of those affected by Hurricane Michael through home repair, reconstruction, debris cleanup, connecting people to the right resources, and serving in many other capacities. This is work that
will take years to accomplish, but we (the UMC) are committed to this ministry." To serve in this (or any) capacity, all volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Church Family, we have a beautiful opportunity before us to truly be the "love in action" that proves to the world that we are disciples of Jesus Christ. I ask you to prayerfully consider being a part of this mission/ministry week and to please contact me or our Mission Trip Coordinator, Patty Johnson for further information. And for sure, please continue to pray for those affected by this disaster in the days, months and years to come.
Blessings, Pastor Teresa

June Mission: Love In Action
Love In Action, located in downtown Dothan, is our mission focus for
the month of June. With a slogan, “Making a Difference in Dothan and
Around the World,” we at Greystone UMC want to bless them as they
bless so many.
Love In Action helps the homeless and less fortunate in Dothan, as well
as those living in extreme poverty, including orphans, in the
Philippines, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, China, and Haiti. They give
hope to the hopeless, further stating: “Dothan is our ‘Jerusalem’ (Acts 1:8), so we are His
witnesses in our hometown, and we go to other countries in obedience to His command to be
His witnesses and make disciples throughout the world. God also tells us throughout the
Bible to take care of the poor. Therefore, our mission is to reach out to the ‘least of these’ as
Jesus says in Matthew 25. We proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of
compassion, truly putting God’s love in action.”
Some of the acts of compassion of Love In Action include:
Helping the homeless in Dothan with food, showers, hygiene items, clothing, and laundry
services. There are more than 400 homeless people in Dothan.
Providing a weekly health clinic for the homeless and people living in group homes.
Providing clothes, food and hygiene items for the poor in Dothan.
Bible Studies.
Discipleship in training/Baptizing new believers.
Providing food for the hungry/malnourished in Third World nations with a strong focus on
children/orphans.
Building schools, providing scholarships and school supplies for impoverished children in
the Philippines, Pakistan and Haiti. Schools are also used as churches.
Supporting indigenous pastors in the Philippines, Myanmar, India, and Pakistan.
Planting house churches and building churches in the Philippines and Myanmar.
Providing Bibles and other discipleship materials such as Bible Study guides in the Philip-
pines, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, China and Haiti.
As a Church united with these, our brothers and sisters, we are collecting the following
hygiene items in June to help make a difference in the many lives touched through Love In
Action: shampoo, body wash/soap, shaving cream and razors, deodorant, lotion, tooth paste
and tooth brushes (in package), alcohol-free mouth wash, new fingernail clippers, feminine
products, baby diapers, and toilet paper.
Thank you for your love in action!

FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY Strong Community Life Matters to God
.Congratulations, Kevin!
Greystone United Methodist Church wishes Rev. Kevin Krist and wife, Valerie a beautiful and sacred new beginning as they embark in June on a new journey as Pastor of Linden United Methodist Church, Linden, Alabama. How wonderful it has been to have you home, Kevin and Valerie. We have enjoyed worshiping with you over the past few months and thankful for
all that God has planned for you as you move and begin a new pastorate. Linden United
Methodist Church is very blessed to receive you both!
Church Family, as Kevin and Valerie plan to move, we want to present to them a love offering to help with their moving expenses. While the receiving church does help pay some of the moving expenses, there are many that are not covered by the receiving church. On Sunday, June 2, we will designate our Communion Rail Offering to their upcoming move. Also, Kevin plans to deliver our Pentecost message on Sunday, June 9th. We look forward to hearing God's message through him on this special Sunday as we pray he and Valerie forward into
God's will and God's beloved way.
Congratulations, Kevin and Valerie. Greystone UMC looks forward to celebrating you and all
that God has planned for you! Thank you for sharing your time with us!

Greystone UMC Youth News By the time you read this school will be out! Kids will get to sleep late and enjoy some time
away from the daily grind of school and related activities. I can remember those lazy days in
summertime when I was a kid. I would get together with the other neighborhood kids and
just enjoy being with them. We rarely did anything special, we just had a good time doing
nothing productive at all. One of my favorite things to do back then was to sit by the big
picture window in our living room on a rainy day and read a book. I can still remember the
feeling of being so caught up in the book it felt as if I was actually there. Times have certainly
changed. With the technology-driven environment our children live in today, it isn’t easy for
them to slow down and enjoy life.
Patty and I have big plans for this summer that, we hope, will allow the youth and children to
have a little fun, enjoy hanging out with each other, and learn to grow even closer to Jesus.
Even though there will be no church activities scheduled on Wednesday nights, the youth and
children will still meet for Stick Ministry practice. In addition, we will have some outings
planned, plus we will still be serving at The Harbor Church on the first Wednesday of each
month. Some of the details are in Patty’s article and will be also be in the weekly church
bulletin.
Please be in prayer for us as we prepare for Summer Xtreme June 10-14. I know the Lord has
big plans for our kids during this week of fun, fellowship, missions and worship.
Don’t forget our regularly scheduled activities:
Sunday School at 9:00 am with Mrs. Patti Walker.
Wednesday Night Stick Ministry practice.
Sunday Night Bible Study for youth and children.

People Want Their Lives to Matter and Make a Difference
June 18th
“This Land Is Your Land”…That’s our theme for this glorious summer event for our delightful friends from the Spectra Care Group Homes. June is traditionally packed with outdoor gatherings and family time. What a wonderful excuse to share a cookout followed by homemade ice cream. Please plan to join us for any part of the festivities on Tuesday, June 18th as our party begins at 5:00 and will conclude by 6:30. We will need some cooks, of course…several to “man” the grill for our hot dogs and hamburgers. We will need volunteers in the kitchen to slice up those Slocomb tomatoes and Vidalia onions and plate up all the other fixings. What better to follow a summertime cookout than a bowl of homemade ice cream?! Be watching for the donation menu list in the S.S. classrooms and at the front table.
Our Cheerful Hearts ministry provides an opportunity to share God’s love through fun, fellowship, and compassion and actually be family and friends to these who find such joy in our smiles, kind words, and hugs. We hope to see you there. Thank you now for the donations to make this event a success!
HONEYSUCKLE SPORTS BANQUET
I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to our Greystone family for the support and assistance
provided to make the HMS Sports Banquet a great success! We had about 200 athletes and
their family members present to celebrate these young men and women’s accomplishments.
Thank you for the support and prayers you have provided for the students at HMS. I am sure
that God’s hand and guidance will be present in the lives of many of these students as they
navigate through life!
