Part 1: The Similarities of The F1 Race Into Our Financial Lives

As we gear up to host the F1 race this weekend in Singapore, you’ll notice the different teams and drivers in the race.

They go round and round the same course, struggle on the sharp corners, making sparks fly as they hit bumps on the track, some of them seem to cruise by while others seem to crash spectacularly.

Doesn’t that sound surprisingly similar

to the financial lives of so many people?

The fact is most people struggle through their work if not their lives.  They do what they do because they believe they have to, because

they think they should, or because they’re good at it—even in the face of personal unhappiness

or financial struggle.

They’re stuck going round and round the same track.

In the past, you just did what you had to do or what was available to

you. Things have changed pretty

dramatically. We have way more options and

opportunities today than we can even

handle.

So why are people still going round and round the same old course? 

The most obvious reason is fear: fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of rejection, fear of looking foolish, fear

of disapproval and even fear of success!

Whatever it is that you feel obligated to do, obligation is nothing more than a fear that if you don’t do “this,” something bad will

happen.

You’re not going to have passion and energy to succeed if you resent doing what you’re doing rather than looking forward to doing it.

And that’s exactly what a lot of peoples’ biggest struggle is when it comes to work. We don’t do what we love because we’re not clear about what we want. 

It’s like sitting at the pit stop, never getting

out because we’re waiting to get refueled and get our worn tires

changed,

but the difference is, we don’t have the

support structure in our financial lives that the F1 drivers have in

their teams.
