Professor Bob Williams Returns to AKPsi as

Omega’s Alumni Advisor

I am delighted to have the opportunity to update you on the progress of our brotherhood, as we have a lot of developments underway that promise a positive outlook for our chapter’s future. The two main areas in which we have incurred the most growth are membership and professional development. We now seek to strengthen our alumni engagement, as we enhance the overall professionalism and expand the size of our fraternity.

We are pleased to welcome 20 new pledges to our brotherhood. They have already begun to show initiative, not only within their leadership among our chapter, but throughout campus. A group recently won the Invictus Case Competition hosted by the Invictus Consulting Group LLC and the W&M Financial Modeling club. Next semester, several pledges will compete in a stock pitch competition hosted by the Alpha Gamma Chapter at the University of Virginia where they will get a chance to present to hedge fund managers and bankers from the DC area. I have personally enjoyed getting to know the incoming pledge class, and it brings me great pleasure to see them join their new fraternity families following Clue Week, one of my favorite times in AKPsi.

In regards to our revamped professional development process, we are excited to welcome Professor Bob Williams as our Alumni Advisor. He advised Arizona State University’s chapter for some time, and was an executive at DuPont for many years after graduating with an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Professor Williams emphasized entrepreneurialism as part of his keynote address to the brotherhood. We were able to see this when Robby Wiley, Omega Chapter alumnus, returned to the brotherhood to talk about his entrepreneurial venture, the Virginia Beer Company. In addition to these events, we are looking forward to our upcoming networking engagement with marketing-focused Executive Partners this month.

We plan on staying in touch to share new developments and news from the Omega Chapter and look forward to hearing from you as well.

In U—and I—,

A message from the VP Fundraising

Brothers,

This is an exciting semester of growth for the Omega Chapter. We have a very large, high quality pledge class. Our new executive board consists of ambitious trailblazers who have stepped up to fill important leadership positions. We have had more professional events this semester than the last two semesters combined. Additionally, we are in the process of partnering with the Mason School of Business for future funding.

This is also an important time because Convention is right around the corner. Being the new VP of Fundraising, I wish to see at least three brothers attend Convention. Since every single current exec member won’t be eligible for re-election next year due to graduation and study abroad, I am looking to fill this future leadership void with some strong leaders. This is why we especially value bringing brothers to Convention this summer. Having gone to PBLI for the past two years, I have gained great information about leadership and a deeper appreciation for what our fraternity stands for. I’d like to see future leaders of our chapter have a similar experience so that we can sustain our growth.

One of my major goals as VP of Fundraising is to diversify our fundraising efforts. I am currently promoting our semi-annual Krispy Kreme Sale. Additionally, I am coordinating a group fundraiser with King’s Dominion for early next fall. However, we realize that Convention expenses are costly and we won’t be able to send more than one or two brothers to convention with our current levels of funding. We are currently requesting your help in our efforts to send brothers to convention. The suggested donation is 10-20 dollars, but you can give as little or as much as you would like. Donations* will soon be able to be made directly on the Omega chapter’s website. Donors will be recognized in our quarterly newsletter and at our fraternal programs. Please know that your contribution will go toward sustaining our chapter through leadership, which is the backbone of our organization.

* This is a non-tax deductible donation.
