DIRECTOR’S CORNER
As we are nearing the end of 2017 we still
have plenty of good weather to get out and
ride! October and November have a lot go-
ing on with Daytona, Thunder Beach, and
the Southeastern HOG Rally in Pensacola.
Hope to see you out on the road RIDING!!!!
October 28th, Harley-Davidson of Atlanta is
having their Haunted Harley Halloween
Party and on November the 11th, the Atlan-
ta HOG Chapter is having our Annual Chili
Cook Off in conjunction with the dealerships Veterans Day event.
While this year has felt like it has flown by, I think back to all of the Great Rides,
Social events, Dealership events and friendship and now it seems that the last 10
months were filled with things that I enjoy!! We have some year end events coming
up; make plans to attend our Christmas Party and anything else that we have go-
ing on.
You are part of the Best HOG Chapter in Georgia, get out and participate!!!!
No Boundaries...... Let's Ride!!!!!

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR’S CORNER
Well we are heading into the last two months of the year and other areas of the country will begin winterizing their motorcycles and putting them up for the year but it can be some prime riding weather for us.
When this edition of the HOGwash comes out we will have many folks in Florida at Biketoberfest in Daytona, PCB for Thunder Beach and the Southeastern HOG rally in Pen-sacola. I am sure that there will be a photo or two shot down there and posted on Facebook. (Remember what hap-pens with this group will likely be posted on Facebook)
Back on the home front the dealership is having a Haunted Harley Halloween party on October 28th and for Veterans day we will be having our HOG chili cook off. I hope to see everyone out with their favorite batch of chili.
Keep an eye out on our Facebook page and the calendar as Dee and the road cap-tains will be adding rides.
Hope to see you around the bikes.

Message from Ladies of Harley
Suzanne Rapp
Suzanne's Road Name is "Spunky", and she rides a pretty Black & White 2011 Deluxe. Spunky has been riding for 6 years and her favorite ride was to Pennsylvania to see family and then to the HOG Rally. Her favorite activities include running, obstacle racing, and riding!
Tom Rapp
Tom’s Road Name is "Pelican"! I'm sure there's a story to that
(you'll just have to ask him). His ride is a 2016 CVO Road Glide
Ultra . Pelican has been riding for 26 years. His favorite ride
was definitely NOT the ride home from the Jekyll Island HOG
Rally! Tom says his grandkids are the best, and enjoys his time
with them. He also likes woodworking and building things with
his hands. Riding Harley's and spending time with his chosen family is always at the
top of his list!
The LOH SwapMeet/ Arts and Crafts Show was a huge suc-
cess! Thank you to all who participated and supported the
cause. This was a great fundraiser for our chapter!
Save the dates! October 28 is the dealership’s annual Haunted
Harley Halloween Party. The LOH will be participating in assist-
ing the dealership. Volunteers needed please!
Saturday November 11, is our Annual Chili Cook off.
Now that cooler weather has arrived it’s time to dust off your chili
recipes and enter the contest! The LOH will be organizing the event.
Look for further updates on our FB page.

The Atlanta HOG membership is renewable on a yearly calendar
and not on an annual basis like National HOG.
In order to join the Atlanta HOG chapter you must be a member
of the National HOG organization. You may join / renew at https://
members.hog.com/ . To join / renew our local Atlanta chapter you
may join / renew at the dealership during normal business hours,
at the chapter meetings, business meetings or any ride that a

HEAD ROAD CAPTAIN CORNER
I can't believe this year is almost over. What a year it has been for our chapter. We have had some re-ally good rides and entertained some unique visitors (Youssef even came all the way from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to ride with us). Fall is my favorite time of the year. The leaves start turning the most beautiful colors, Halloween brings out the kid in all of us, and the weather is perfect for a brisk ride in the country. Oh and don't forget college football (go Dawgs). The other road captains and I will be add-ing some good fall weather rides to the calendar soon so keep watching Facebook and the calendar. I know we have some new members to the chapter so be sure and let them know when we are having rides. You know, it doesn't matter if you are new to the chapter or have been around the chapter for a long time, you are an important part of our family. The other road captains and I want every member to have rides that they will en-joy. Let me or one of the other road captains know if you have a particular place or time you want a ride so we can design a route for you.
Speaking of road captains, the chapter could use some new volunteers to be road captains. Recently someone asked what it took to be a road captain so I will try to explain. A road captain is both a mentor to other riders and an ambassador for the chapter as well as the dealership. My road captain patch is the patch I am most proud of on my vest because it means I am helping others enjoy riding. A road captain plans the ride, briefs the riders before leaving, and leads the group along the route. To become a road captain, the chapter member must (1) com-plete a Road Captain Sign Up sheet, (2) be a middle and sweep on a ride and (3) lead their patch ride. It's that simple. Let me know if you are interested.
Some of the things that are coming up for our chapter is the Southeast HOG rally in Pensacola, FL on November 1-4. We will have a chapter ride going to the rally so come along for the fun. We will also be having our annual chili cook-off on No-vember 11th. This is Veteran's Day and a dealership event so it should be a fun day.
Don't forget to get your mileage recorded for the new Ride 365 program before the end of the year.
NO BOUNDARIES - Let's Ride
See you on the road.

Atlanta HOG Chapter Pop Tab Project
Go ahead, Pop that Top and take a drink! Then, twist that little
metal tab off the top and keep it. When you get a little collection,
take them up the Harley-Davidson of Atlanta and drop them off.
We’ll also have a drop off container at chapter meetings. In case
you aren’t sure what a Pop Tab is… It’s the little metal tab on the
top of cans of soft drinks and other aluminum cans.
Our chapter is partnering with the Ronald McDonald Charities to
contribute our tabs collected. Since 1998 pop tabs have contributed over $133,000 in
support to local Atlanta Ronald McDonald houses. It takes approximately 1128 pop
tabs to equal one pound which generates somewhere between .40 and .50 a lb. in in-
come for the Ronald McDonald Charities.
It’s an easy way to help others. Look for the bright orange drop off containers at Bike
Night and Chapter meetings. There will also be one at Harley-Davidson of Atlanta.
Let’s see how many we can collect!

Fall Weather Riding Tips
Fall has arrived in the Southlands! Here are a few tips to keep you safe:
Know your skill level: Riding a motorcycle is a physical and mental skill, and can di-minish if you haven't ridden in a while. Take so time to get reacquainted with your bike if it's been some time since your last ride.
Hazard Awareness: Your nice relaxing ride through the country should be fun but you have to maintain a constant state of awareness. If you try to identify every hazard you see when ride, there will not be any surprises. When identifying potential hazards, there are no wrong answers. Call out everything: driveway, intersection, children, dogs, parked cars, oncoming line of cars, blind curve, deer, gravel, construction, potholes, etc. This exer-cise will both help you prepare and force you to scan beyond your normal boundaries.
Wet Weather: If you ride your motorcycle, you are going to get wet. Riding in the rain can be done safely if you follow a few simple rules. Keep rain gear with you, if you have room. Keep a pair of clear glasses or wear a helmet shield of some type. Keeping the rain out of your eyes is imperative. Adjust your riding speed for the conditions. Keep in mind, when it rains for the first time after an extended dry period, there will be excessive amounts of oil on the road, making conditions extremely slick. Watch for standing water.
Frost/Ice: Temperatures on a fall day in Georgia can fluctuate 20 or more degrees. Midday temperatures may be warm and comfortable, while overnight temperatures may be near freezing. It is necessary to be aware of frost and ice on the roadway in the early morn-ing during this time of year. Be sure to pay particular attention for frost/ice on bridges and overpasses, as well as shady areas where the morning sun might not have melted the frost yet.
Falling Leaves: When fall sets in, the falling leaves can present an unassuming haz-ard. Many people venture out to the North Georgia Mountains to see the fall colors, pre-senting new hazards. Drivers may be a little distracted and not paying attention to the road or you. Fallen leaves can accumulate on the road and become very slick. Wet or dry, stacks of leaves can reduce traction making it difficult to stop.
Deer Season: While fall riding can present unique hazards, none are as challenging as deer season. Between crops being harvested, hunters in the woods, and breeding sea-son, the deer are much more active than normal. The best defense is to stay aware, partic-ularly in rural areas, scan the roadway and just off the shoulders and watch for deer cross-ings. Typically, deer movement will peak at dusk and dawn. Areas where crops or wooded areas are close to the road will present the greatest challenge because these are ideal places for deer to cross and provide you the shortest reaction time.
North Georgia is especially beautiful riding during the fall; please be safe and aware of the potential hazards unique to this time of year. Enjoy the ride!
