Sharks attack some 50-75 people each year worldwide,

The Pacific Ocean is so big it could fit all of the Earth’s continents.

Ocean cover almost 3/4 of the Earth's surface and contain roughly 97% of the Earth's water supply.

The ocean is a very imported habitat with the oceans help us survive.

Coral needs to be in warm temperatures from 68-82 degrees Fahrenheit, that is why it needs to be by the surface of the water so it will be by the sun. Coral is not just a plant, it is also a home for the fish that are around it. Coral is protection for the fish. But fish are losing their homes because coral is in danger. It is in danger because of human activity. Another threat to coral is how the temperatures of the oceans are changing all the time.

Kelp grows along rocky coast lines in depths of 18-90ft. Kelp is basically algae, which holds on to the rocks on the coasts with their root-like structures called hold fasts. These hold fasts are like long streamers which grow up toward the surface of the water, with gas bladders on each leaf to keep the plant upright.

Ocean Animal Adaptations

Many species of deep ocean fish have special adaptations to living in extremely high pressure, low light conditions.

Some of them are black as night all over with light organs on their bodies, including one on modified dorsal fin that serves as a lure for the fish it preys upon.

Some deep ocean fish don't have any pigment (color) at all and you can see through them .

Dolphins have adapted to their environment. A dolphins’ long nose helps them kill sharks. A dolphin’s tail goes up and down to help it dive up to get air.

Dolphins and Beluga Whales need to save oxygen while they dive underwater. To do this, their bodies adapt in several ways. Their heart beats slower while diving.
