The VA has been working with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) to more closely align with their inspection process. We had inspectors from Nebraska, Kentucky, Montana and Florida conducting our survey. The surveyor team commented that they felt our staff provided excellent care to our members, and the members and families that they interviewed stated they were very pleased with Norfolk Veterans Home. The end result of our USVA inspection was Norfolk Veterans Home receiving a deficiency free survey!! Of course, there are areas where we can improve. The surveyors had a recommen- dation referencing timely completion of staff performance evaluations. We take their recommendations very seriously and have already implemented them. I was impressed by the caliber of the inspectors and the fact that they truly wanted to partner with us as evidenced by the suggestions they made to improve our mem- bersquality of life. It really does take every staff member, in every department, every day working to accomplish our mission in order to achieve these results. Thank You, Thank You to each and every staff member for your part in this wonderful accomplishment. I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Easter and I know many of us are looking forward to seeing some nice spring weather. Members gathered in the Rec Room to get up close and personal with a variety of domestic and exotic baby animals. Thank you to the Horn T Zoo in Monroe, NE who brought out the ani-mals for the members to see.

Right - Jim Mullen surpris-ingly looks very comforta-ble holding the baby alli-gator.

Lower Right - Iva Schultz gives the alligator a smooch!

Congratulations Jennifer Sorensen Employee of the 2nd Quarter

Jennifer is a dedicated Registered Nurse who provides quality care to our members. Jen is helpful to her fellow employees and takes the time to properly train new staff. She is a hands on Nurse and isn’t afraid to rollup her sleeves and pitch in to get a job done. Jen understands the mission and values of the Norfolk Veterans Home and is committed and dedicated to the members. She is an excellent role model for others to emulate.

Congratulations Jen on this well deserved honor!
