Beginning in 1990 with the introduction of the NJEX 7100system, YZ defined the Total System approach to odorization.In 1992 our concept of application specific developmentresulted in the creation of a generation of standard odorizationsystems. The NJEX 6200/7200/8200 represent the firstgeneration of solar-powered systems built on a standardplatform comprised of; an injection pump, an odorant meter,and a low-power microprocessor controller with system audit-trail and performance software.

The NJEX Generation Means…Positive Injection

The safety of our communities depend on the safe use ofnatural gas. Proper odorization relies on the accurate injectionof uncontaminated odorant into the gas transmission ordistribution system. The NJEX generation of odorizationsystems employ our rugged, field-proven, positive-displace-ment pump, designed specifically for odorant applications.The NJEX series pumps are volumetrically adjustable andpositively inject precise repeatable increments of liquidodorant. Designed for endurance, the NJEX pumps utilize amodular design for ease of maintenance.

Precise Odorant MeasurementThe NJEX generation of odorant systems provide accuratemeasurement of injected odorant. The capabilities of the newNJEX Verometer expand the operational flow ranges of theNJEX 6300/7300/8300 systems. With an ultrahigh resolutionof .001 lbs. of odorant, and self-compensated for temperature,the NJEX generation of odorization systems provide greaterperformance information than ever before.

Advanced Micro-Processor ControlFor the NJEX generation of odorant systems YZ has specifi-cally designed the most advanced dual microprocessor basedcontroller available in the industry. The powerful N-300 control-ler operates on a self-contained, solar-charged battery system,designed to provide 30 days of worry-free operation withoutrequiring auxiliary power.

Easy to use, the N-300 controller provides local and remoteprogramming access. With the automated upload-program-ming feature, available through the use of the Sentry4 MemoryModule, the technician can plug in the module, turn the NJEXsystem on, and upload the parameters automatically. Opera-tion and programming information is locally displayed via a 4line 20 character Alphanumeric display.

THE NJEX GENERATION...

Remote CommunicationThe new NJEX system is ready to communicatethrough the use of ModBus protocol which supportsboth RTU and ASCII formats. Every new NJEXsystem, as a standard feature, provides two RS-485commlinks which are configurable for either redun-dant SCADA communication or one SCADAcommlink and one direct Sentry4 commlink. Thisallows remote communication of specific systemalarms, injected odorant volumes, remote program-ming, and remote system standby activation.

Interactive In Real TimeTo communicate data is not enough, an ability toquickly interact based on the information we receivein real-time is important to be effective. Implement-ing our commitment of application specific develop-ment, YZ designed the new WindowsTM basedSentry4 software system specifically for odorizatonsystem management and interactive remote commu-nication. With the new Sentry4 software, the user isnow on-line and interactive with the system. Systemcontrol operations, system programming, and alarmstatus information is now accessed remotely. Thenew NJEX Sentry4 Software allows the remotedownloading of NJEX system performance history foraudit trail purposes and analysis.

Troubleshooting the system is easy using the Sentry4QuickView screen where a snapshot of critical real-time subsystem information and alarm status isgraphically displayed. This allows the technician toremotely view and react to the entire system opera-tion at a glance without requiring a site inspection.

If programming changes are required, the Sentry4enables the technician to remotely program the newNJEX series systems at a press of a button.

Service & SupportAt YZ industries this is nothing new. Our on-linetechnical service support is available 24 hours a day,365 days a year. Additionally, a factory trained fieldtechnician can be on-site within 24 hours in mostcases. With the new Sentry4 software our on-linetechnical service support enters a new dimension ofremote troubleshooting assistance.

Green System OperationAt YZ our systems are designed to minimize theimpact on our environment without sacrificing safetyfor our communities. That’s why our system’s designminimizes the potential of odorant leakage, incorpo-rates “closed-loop” purging sequences to allowodorant free maintenance, and does not require theflaring of the bulk storage tank during the direct fillprocess.
