Indian peoples are very talented in all industries & sectors. Indian students having too much Grasping Power to get the particular subject knowledge.

Now a day’s in our country we just throughout the huge no. of students every educational year from each trade. We know the reason as well, it’s happens due to only of population. But instead of Quality we are just moving with Quantity. After passing degree or diploma, does a student get jobs in their hand..? If yes then he/she would have cracked all interviews barricades & achieved that location. If no then he/she not eligible for that position due to lack of understanding, improper guidance, less subject knowledge, confi dence level not that much good, like this so many reasons we found to not suitable for job. So now we come to the point of Qualitative Education, Does all schools, colleges, institutes providing qualitative education..? Does all schools, colleges, institutes recruiting qualitative teachers..? Due to technology & development all businessman is reducing manpower & using technology to reduce cost & saving time. So student pass out & job availability proportion is totally imbalanced. As per the current situation no need to fi nd job but do create job, indirectly be a businessman so you can also provide to work for many hands.

Qualitative Education : As Educational Part we can divide in to two parts.

1. Educational Organization: All school, college & institute management responsibility to provide all kind of facility to their students to get future scope & prospective goals. They should create educational atmosphere & provide qualitative education with skill development. Since last 5 years’ central & state government’s also taking initiative in Skill Development & Technical Knowledge as well. So we need to understand future industrial requirements & scopes. According to that path we can reach at least up to the goal.

2. Teaching Staff or Faculty: As per government policy, many government aided school, college & institute recruiting teacher staff as per Cast Reservation merit list. But as compare to private school, college & institute are hiring their staff or faculty as per skill, knowledge throughout all common merit lists, but not as per only cast reservation merit list. It’s directly impact on student’s educational level, as they not getting well qualifi ed, well educated, top merit listed teaching faculty. At least in teacher recruitment need to avoid this kind reservation scheme. Providing reservation in teacher recruitment we can do provide job to their respective cast member, but we are not thinking about qualitative education. My personal opinion is “Teacher Recruitment Should Be as per Common Merit List with Skill & Knowledge”.

Editor’s Speaks : Indian Education System

Sheetal Banchariya | NashikThe revision of metrics is focussed

on understanding national contexts, different education systems and policies followed by countries across the world

To make the world university rankings more transparent, UK-based Times Higher Education (THE) is reviewing all the 13 parameters used for formulating the rankings. The new parameters will be announced in September 2020.

“We acknowledge that the world is changing quickly and universities are becoming more sophisticated for managing their data. The world rankings are now subject to consultation and will be called Rankings 3.0. Latest technologies for data analysis and better data sources will be deployed for better transparency,” says Phil Baty, chief knowledge offi cer, THE.

The move comes after IITs in 2019 criticised the rankings for data discrepancy and methodology ambiguity. “The controversy was largely based on misunderstanding where the institutes did not understand the methodology. Some of the criticism was unfair, which were based on erroneous information. Rankings are recognised for homogeneity, and it becomes diffi cult to acknowledge the subtlety of different national processes and systems,” says Baty, on the sidelines of India Universities Forum 2020.

He adds that the revision of the rankings will emphasise understanding national contexts, different education systems, policies and whether the parameters are biased towards certain countries. “The global rankings are majorly focussed on internationalisation but Indian institutes have their hands tied because of policy considerations and cannot infl uence the metric. The Rankings 3.0 will consider the challenges faced by different countries

and be more inclusive,” says Baty.Improving India’s stand

Since 2012, it was the fi rst time that no Indian university made it to the list of top 300. The data, says Baty, is worthy of concern. “Global rankings are important for the universities to collaborate internationally and it remains a challenge for Indian universities as they are not ranked highly. Though no Indian university were under 300, there were

more Indian universities in the rankings than ever before. Indian institutes are becoming open to global scrutiny. Being the fi fth best represented nation, India will have ample collaboration opportunities due to better global presence,” he adds.

Despite producing higher volumes of quality research, dipping rankings of Indian universities can be attributed to the limited international outlook. Indian universities fail to attract international faculty and students, which is largely due to “policy restrictions”.

“India can take inspiration from China, where it targeted Chinese scholars who were living or working abroad and lured them back to the home country. India needs to put an ecosystem in place to avoid brain drain,” says Baty.

Besides, China’s 211 and 985 programmes also allowed it to expand the university systems without compromising on the quality. “The programmes were successful because China realised that only few universities are capable of being world-class but all the institutes can be excellent. Russia’s 5-100 Project is another effective example. The Institute of Eminence (IoE) scheme is a positive step but recognising 10 public and 10 private institutions is not enough; the number of universities in the focus group needs to increase. India needs to further differentiate the institutes as global, research-led, and teaching-oriented among others,” adds Baty.

Times Higher Education to review its global university rankings parameters in September 2020, says Phil Baty

Sheetal Banchariya | NashikClass X and XII registrations have

increased manifold from 2017 to 2019The registrations for class X and

XII certifi cations offered by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are on a steady rise. While a total of 78,901 candidates registered for class X exam in October-November 2017, the number increased to 1, 18,805 in 2018 and 1, 20,000 in 2019. Similarly, for class XII, registrations increased from 1, 03,489 (2017) to 1, 90,000 (2019).

CB Sharma, chairman of NIOS, cites homeschooling as one of the reasons behind the increase. “The formal schooling is turning out to be tougher than ever and as an alternative, several parents are turning to home-schooling. As NIOS offers certifi cations with fl exibility in learning schedules, the registrations have been on a steady rise,” he adds.

The board conducts the exams twice a year and allows a maximum of nine attempts to a student to clear the exams and receive certifi cations. The numbers of students applying for April-May exams over the

years have been higher than those appearing in October-November exams. “Most students opt for April-May examinations as it is aligned with the yearly admission process followed by most Indian varsities,” says Sharma. Another reason, says Sharma, could be youngsters’ increased interest in competitive examinations that mandatorily require school-completion certifi cates. “The aspiration to crack competitive exams is no longer limited to students receiving formal school education. Those who do not attend schools turn to the open board to get a pass certifi cate for class XII, which is the basic eligibility criterion to appear for almost all the competitive examinations,” he adds. However, the pass percentage has been constantly fl uctuating.

Around 32.33% of students were certifi ed in class X in 2017 and increased to 41.6% in 2019. The pass percentage for class XII dipped to 32.78% in 2019 from 36.37% in 2017. Sharma says that the fl uctuation in the yearly pass percentage is not a parameter of overall students’ performance as a student gets multiple attempts to clear the backlogs.

How homeschooling is boosting the popularity of open school

Noida boy Suryansh Agarwal had also topped the ICSI Company Secretary exam in 2016

An alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Suryansh Agarwal outperformed more than 43,000 students who appeared for the CA Final Examination (New Course) in November. He topped the exam in his first attempt with 603 marks out of 800. The 23-year old had also secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) CS Professional Program in December 2016.

Inspired by his elder sister, uncle and aunt, who are all chartered accountants, Suryansh started developing a strong interest in commerce subjects and opted for the stream in class XI. Later, he pursued Bachelors in Commerce (BCom) to hone his accountancy skills.

“Many of my friends in college were already preparing for CA exams and my company

influenced me to give it a try. We prepared together and helped each other with doubts and notes,” says Suryansh, whose father works as an additional general manager in NTPC Limited and mother is a homemaker. Music and sports are the saviours for Suryansh to deal with exam stress and preparation anxiety. “Though I extensively listen to Bollywood music, Atif Aslam is my all-time favourite artist. I am also a huge fan of Coke Studio,” adds the Noida boy. As against the traditional notion about toppers being bookworms, Suryansh prefers the visual medium for both entertainment and education. “Each day for me ends with episodes from any American sit-com along with dinner. Besides,

I have watched the episodes of Game of Thrones multiple times. Joey from Friends is my favourite character. TV series have helped me immensely in taking my mind off from preparation books,” says Suryansh, who binge-watches How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory among others.

He is currently pursuing his three-year articleship in the assurance department at E&Y, Gurgaon, but hopes to explore other departments in future. He adds, “The next year is experimental as I do not have a clear idea of the next step. I will explore new opportunities before settling for a permanent job.”

Despite entrepreneurship becoming the buzzword across the country, Suryansh is not inclined towards starting something of his own and wants to join a multinational corporation. “Establishing my firm is not on my priority list and I do not want to become an entrepreneur. In the longer run, I would want to get into a big firm such as the Hindustan Unilever and Johnson & Johnson,” he adds.

CA Final topper does not find entrepreneurship attractive

TNE | NashikBesides, vocational workforce

enjoys a long-term career in comparison to engineering and MBA professionals

The salaries of vocational workforce has witnessed a growth of 18% as against the 4% and 3% of engineering and MBA graduates, respectively, in the last two years, revealed a recent report. Besides the growth, the report by TeamLease said that organisations are ready to pay more for ‘hot vocational jobs’ as against engineering and MBA roles. This rise is expected due to the growing demand for a skilled workforce. However, the demand-supply gap in the vocational jobs market is likely to grow to 41.4-61.4 million over the next five years, thereby causing salaries to increase more. “Poor employability amongst students graduating from low-ranked higher education institutes is also the secondary factor that has led to the stagnation of salaries of professional degree holders,” cites the report. Of 10 sectors that were reviewed for the survey, six including apparel, automobile, construction, e-commerce, gems & jewellery, and retail will give better payouts to vocational talent than professionals. The report adds that vocational jobs including visual merchandiser (apparel) and gemmologist (gems & jewellery) have a clear lead across experience levels over the aspirants from engineering and MBA streams. On the other hand, for jobs such as lab technician (healthcare) and network technician (BFSI), the salaries comparatively start lower than engineering

and MBA jobs but sees a steady increase over time. The vocational workforce also enjoys a better long-term career in comparison to the engineering and MBA candidates from reputed educational institutions of India. The report pointed out that

the average salary of a network technician with five years of experience grew from Rs 38,000 per month in 2016 to Rs 51,600 per month in 2018, while the salary of an engineer with similar years of experience rose from Rs 37,200 in 2016 to Rs 41,500 in 2018. Detailed analysis across sectors and experience level, according to the report the salary growth gap between a vocational job and an engineering job widened with experience. For instance, while a network technician with a 5 year experience average salary grew from Rs. 38,000 per month in 2016 to Rs. 51,600 per month in 2018, the salary of an engineer with similar years of experience grew from Rs. 37,200 in 2016 to only Rs. 41,500 in 2018. “The widening demand-supply gap for vocational skills and the poor employability of graduate talent has skewed salaries in favour of vocational jobs. While currently the gap in salary growth between vocational jobs and engineering and MBA jobs are only 15%, in the coming years, it will widen further. Also, with more companies focussing on skills rather than educational qualification, the demand for vocational talent is expected to witness a stupendous growth in the next couple years,” said Rituparna Chakraborty, co-founder and executive vice president, TeamLease Services.

Vocational jobs pay more than engineering and MBA

TNE | NashikLife skills training

enhances students' ability to crack job interviews and handle the intense competition with greater ease, writes Dinesh Mudri

To achieve unprecedented success, it is always better that one takes the road less travelled. However, today, several students are accustomed to a convenient and comfortable lifestyle that often refrain them from taking the tough path.

Besides, most students these days have a marks-centric mentality and not skills-centric. Marks enable students to enter colleges of their choice but serve little purpose beyond that. The present generation has forgotten that each of them is unique and has different abilities. In their endeavour to go ahead in the race, they often overlook their aptitudes and interests. Getting good marks, admission into a

college to finally securing a job that is not synced with one's natural abilities is a sad tale of many students.

These students cannot cope with the stress that comes with the decision to travel the unknown terrain. They suffer from stress-related problems as they are never taught the art of managing the condition in their school years. This is one of the major drawbacks in the Indian education system.

The curriculum has missed out on major life skills such as anger management, stress management, confidence and self-esteem building, fighting peer pressure, addiction, etc.

In a survey, over 20,000 teenage students were asked questions related to stress. Almost 45% of them admitted that they feel stressed almost all the time. The major reason behind this was the pressure from family, teachers, peers

and school. Students today are vulnerable than ever as in comparison with the growing competition, their ability to handle the pressure has not enhanced. Although naturally, one will fail, people need to understand that a power-packed life skills training programme in educational institutions is the need of the hour and must be made mandatory in all the states. Preparing students to tackle the obstacles they face in their life is of paramount importance and must not be delayed at any cost. The impact of life skills training

With life skills training, students will develop competence, confidence and maturity. As a result, during the crucial interviews and selection drives, they will not hesitate to be different. When an individual wins the inner battle, the battle outside looks feeble. Studies have shown that with curricula

including ‘happiness drive’ & ‘anger management’, students have transformed greatly as these kinds of programmes touch the often untouched areas in one’s personality. After the training, students develop a positive perception of life and see life from a broader perspective. They also develop creativity and curiosity, which augment their zest to succeed in life.

Students are the torch bearers of tomorrow, after graduation, they must have more than just a degree in their quiver. Arming them with the necessary life skills is crucial to enable them to cope with the post-school environment, handle stress better, be more social and be more employable. Need for such success skills cannot be overemphasised, they are critical to happiness and success.

Today’s Education SystemThe Indian education system is quite an old education

system that still exists. It has produced so many genius minds that are making India proud all over the world. However while it is one oldest systems. It is still not developed when compared to others.

Which are in fact newer? This is so as the other countries have gone through growth and advancement, but the Indian education system is still stuck in old age. It faces a lot of problems that need to be sorted to let it reach its full potential. Our Indian education faces system faces a lot of problems that do not let it prosper and help other children succeed in life. The biggest problem which it has to face isn’t the poor grading system. It judges the intelligence of a student on the basis of academics which is in the form of exams papers. That is very unfair to students we are good in their overall performance but not that good at specific subjects. More over the daily strive to get good marks not paying attention to understanding what is taught. In other words, this encourage getting good marks through mugging up out not actually grasping the concept efficiently. Further more we see how the Indian education system focuses on theory more. Only a little percentage is given for practical. This makes them run after the bookish knowledge and not actually applying it to the real world. This practice makes them perplexed when they go out in the real world due to lack of practical knowledge. Most importantly, The Indian education system does not emphasize enough on the impatience of sports and arts students are always asked to study all the time where they get no time for other activities like sports and arts. We improve as the Indian education system is facing so many problems we need to camp up with effective solutions so it improves and creates a brighter future for students. We can start by focusing on the skill developments of students. The school and colleges must not only focus on the ranks and grades but on the analytical and creative skills of children.

In addition subjects must not be merely taught theoretically but with practical. This will help in a better understanding of the subjects without them having to mug up the whole thing due to lack of practical knowledge. Also the syllabus most be updated with the changing times and not follow the old age pattern. Other than that, the government and private colleges must now increase the payroll of teacher. As they clearly deserve much than what they offer. To save money, the school hire teachers who are not qualified enough. This creates a very bad classroom environment and learning. They must be hired if they are fit for the job and not because they are working at a lesser salary. In conclusion the Indian education system must change for the better. It must give the students equal opportunities to shine better in the future. We need to let go of the old and traditional ways and enhance the teaching standards so our youth can get, create a better world.

Maharashtra schools to have single lottery round for admission of EWS studentsTNE | Nashik

The move will prevent delay in the admission process which will be finished by June this year

Maharashtra government has made changes to the admission process of schools students by tweaking the system. The new process is likely to reduce the delay in the application process and reduce the wastage of time.

As against the four lottery rounds, the schools will introduce a single lottery round to enroll the students. Under the 25% Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the new system will save time and conclude the application process by March. The application process will begin in mid-February. The list of applicants who would be given admission under the quota will be announced in March, while, the admission for the same will be announced by May-end. The entire process of admission will be over by the end of May allowing the students to join from the first week of June. The new changes are introduced in the admission process after receiving suggestions from parents and educationalists. Earlier, due to the four lottery system, the admission process would stretch till September, making it difficult for the schools to finish their syllabus in the set time. In Maharashtra, nearly 1.15 lakh seats are reserved for the students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) for admission in private English medium schools.
