Photo Transfer Workshop by Linda BrattenApril 11th 10-2 $35

You have seen the samples around the shop; now take the time to learn how to turn your own photos into works of art! Once you learn how easy this technique is you’ll

be making wall hangings and quilts that document major events in your life.

This workshop is designed to show you how to transfer your photos to printable fabrics, how to do some basic

editing, enlarge the photo to a poster size, and put together a basic wall hanging. We will also consider various thread painting and quilting options that are

available to enhance your photo transfers.

We will use a photo of a rose that I took at the Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, MO for our workshop project. At

the workshop, we will give you the information you need to be able to print your photos onto photo ready fabric, you will be able to experience piecing a photo

transfer together, and experiment with thread painting and quilting to emphasize your photo. And on top of

that you get to eat lunch with Linda!

The cost of the workshop covers the kit, and teacher fees.

Have you ever read the book, The Road Less Traveled by Scott Peck? One of the first recollections about that book is his line: Life is hard. How does that relate to sewing machines? The best way I can put it is: Mechanical things are going to fail. The sooner you embrace that, better you will be. We sell great brands of sewing machines and an unbelievable amount of time and money is put into engineering these to be the best, most reliable ma-chines they can be. With that said some-times they are going to need some work, whether it is to address a problem or rou-tine maintenance. We embrace this part of our business and that is why we have two full-time mechanics. Experience is impor-tant when it comes to the repair business. We see a lot of machine problems, and that is good for you and for us. If you required a surgical procedure I am certain you would want a surgeon who had conducted many operations. We have done over 8,000 machine repairs. A friend of mine, CJ Tinkle, often gets asked where to buy a sewing machine and her standard response is: buy based on the quality of the service department. I agree with her.
