FY2017-18 BUDGETThe City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed FY2017-18 Operating Budget on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the agenda will allow, at City Hall located at 24 Hill Plaza, Whiteville, NC, for the purposes of receiv-ing comments on the proposed budget. Persons wishing to be heard are invited to make written or oral comments.

Proposed FY2017-18 Budget

The proposed Operating Budget does include a proposed property tax rate of $0.0175 cents per $100 in value for the construction of a new City Hall. Utility rates remain the same. Sanitation rates for residential and recycling customers remain the same; however, there is a rate increase for commercial customers. Additionally, the down-town municipal tax district is proposed to remain at its current rate of 12 cents per $100 in value.

Pursuant to the Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act, the proposed operating budget for the City for FY2017-18 was presented to the City Council on Thursday, June 1, 2017. A copy of the proposed budget is available for public inspec-tion in the office of the City Clerk and the City’s Finance office inside Whiteville City Hall located at 24 Hill Plaza.
