Toilet is a subject that affects the life of all human being. Yet, it remains a 'tabootaboo'

almost everywhere. In most cultures, it is considered impolite or improper to

discuss the subject. As such, toilet problemstoilet problems continue

without solutions, because if if you can't talk about it, you you can't talk about it, you

LAUNCH OF NATIONAL SKILL RECOGNITION SCHEME (NSRS) TOILET DESIGN

To position Singapore as the forerunner and leader of toilet designIn its leading role, RAS, together with SPRING Singapore are currently working towards the implementation of NSRS toilet design and development of Performance Standards for the restroom industry. With such standards in place, NEA's mission to provide a clean living environment and a high standard of environmental public health can be enhanced. This is realized with the provision of a benchmark toilet and the setting and adoption of standards of design, maintenance and cleaning for the restroom industry.

WORLD TOILET SUMMIT IN PHILIPPINES IN NOVEMBER

To represent Singapore at this international summit, and to benefit,Network and exchange ideas on toilet management and maintenance issues apart from water conservation to sanitation hygiene.

•"Keep Public Toilet Clean" education pest posters conceptualized and provided on a pro-bono basis by world famous Saatchi and Saatchi were printed and delivered to NEA for distribution. These posters placed in all public toilets will assist in raising the level of toilet hygience. This campaign is fully supported and sponsored by NEA.

Milestones - 2003

The Benchmark Public Toilet

•This project is to be launched in the latter part of 2003. It will include extensive studies on the behaviour of toilet users and incorporating these behaviour patterns in to the designs of toilets so that a new template and guidelines can be adapted, designed and be functional in the toilets. It may also lead to a revision in the present Toilet Code of Practise.
