The new LMS online

The new LMS platform is based on the current version of the widely-used Citrix XenDesktop access software. Performance, security and flexibility are significantly improved, which deliver an improved service to our customers.

From July 10th, 2017 on, all hosted applications on https://citrix.lmslms.com will be automatically redirected to the new environment https://cag.lmslms.com.

Login will show up different:

User login and password have not changed. In other word you can use your exiting credentials to access the new environment.

Upon first entry several steps for client checking are performed. These steps are shown in the following chapters.

Finally you have the similar options to run your LMS-applications.

First entry and preparations

Für die Präsentation der LMS Anwendungen gibt es folgende beiden Varianten (Clients):

1) Citrix receiver (recommended) - the Citrix receiver must be previously installed on the computer. Local administrator rights for installation are required. This makes the full functionality of the LMS applications (save to local disk drives, use local printers) available.

2) HTML 5 Environment – only browser features are used, i.e. the LMS applications can be run from any device with a supported browser. Printing is possible only in PDF files, a direct saving on local drives is not supported.

Selection of Client

The LMS Application portal can be accessed as previously with any supported browser (see below). The various supported browsers have slightly different behavior due to technical design issues.

Internet Explorer:

If a Citrix Receiver is detected it will use it and start automatically. No further action is needed.

If no Citrix Receiver is detected, the following message appears:

You can now install the Citrix Receiver directly (assuming you have appropriate rights on the local machine, instructions below).

If you want to skip receiver installation you can go directly to the Login page by selecting “Log on”.

Installation instructions for Citrix Receiver

This software can be downloaded and installed directly by LMS (link is provided after login) or through Citrix (https://www.citrix.com/products/receiver). You need administrative privileges on your computer.

During Login with Internet Explorer you see the following pages. Please confirm the license agreement and click on “install”.

The current version is downloaded and needs to be run:

Single Sign-On should not be checked:

Klick on “Allow” to activate the detection plug-in:

Finally, this shows a successful installation. Klick on “Finish”.

After that return to the browser and choose “Continue”:

Determine which client is used:

At the application selection screen please click on your name. On the submenu choose “About”:

If you see “Citrix Receiver for web” and nothing else you are using the Citrix Receiver.

If also “Citrix Receiver for HTML5” is shown, you are using the browser based (limited) version.

Client detectoion within Internet Explorer

If Internet Explorer cannot detect the installed receiver, it will display the following screen upon every entry:

In this case you need to add the URL https://cag.lmslms.com to the list of trusted sites. Use “Internet options””Security””Trusted sites” and add this URL to the list. Finally please restart Internet Explorer.

Client selection missing in Internet Explorer

When using Internet Explorer with installed Citrix Receiver and working detection you cannot switch back to the HTML5 version.

Firefox (Version 52 and higher)

To use Citrix Receiver with Firefox you need to perform these steps during initial login:

Then click on the blue “detect receiver” button:

In the following dialog please check to “save selection” for Receiver links:

Afterwards, you need to check the acceptance of the license agreement and then click on “already installed”:

Client selection (not supported in Internet Explorer)

Open the selection menu by clicking on your identity/name within the application selection screen. The following drop-down menu allows setting of the receiver.

Change keyboard settings (Citrix Receiver only)

The default setting is “server-side” which takes the setting from the server. The LMS-servers are using German Keyboard

To change this selection right-klick the Receiver-Icon on the Windows Task-bar. Select “Advanced Preferences”:

Select “local keyboard layout setting”

You now have two options:

• Yes (Server-side) = German

• No (Client side) – the setting of the local machine is used. This setting can be changed using standard Windows functionality (Settings or control panel).

Accessing local drives (Citrix Receiver only)

At any file dialog you can choose your local drives for reading or saving files by selecting the appropriate entry on the upper combo box.

Local printing (Citrix Receiver only)

Within any printer dialog the local printers are populated in the printer list. The local printers are extended with the “(from clientname)” suffix.

You can also choose the installed PDF printer and save the file locally or remotely.

Changing of Password

Login to the LMS-online platform and navigate to the application selector. In the menu behind your identity there is the option to change the password:

If you want to change your password you need to relogin.

Enter your old and new passwords and proceed:

Finally the system responds with “Your password was changed.”
