It was yet another big day for Cape Peninsula University of Technology students on the
21, September 2015 as they all gathered at CPUT Cape Town Campus piazza to
celebrate the launch of the change in corporate identity of CPUT Green Team
organisation to CPUT Greener campus initiative. “The change is just externally,
however the organisation still operates under the same goals and ethical principle”, said
Annete Groblera the founder of the organisation.
To attract the target audience two famous musicians were invited Nathi, the Afro Soul
singer and Vusi Nova the RNB singer were invited. The idea of changing the corporate
identity of the organisation was triggered the Green Campus Initiative conference that
was hosted by University of Western Cape early in March. The changing of the
corporate identity was mainly influenced by opening broader business opportunities for
the organisation. The new corporate identity will allow CPUT GCI to work inter-relatively
with the same organisation from other institutions.
The event was sponsored by Edu-Loan students got the opportunity to engage with the
artist during environmental quiz game, Fikile Mkhonto from student affairs staff said that
“It is important that students become educated about environmental wellness as it forms
part of the six wellness that form CPUT structure. The campaign opened a visibility
platform for CPUT GCI organisation, because when most students were evaluated on
about their information about the organisation most responses showed that they did not
know about it.
CPUT GCI will be hosting one of its first annual conferences in April, 2016 where
various universities will be invited to join the celebration, the organisation is targeting to
get more students in joining because research shows that in decades time South Africa
will be experiencing draughts, therefore it is important that more people save water.
