Our Gospel tells of Jesus’ promise to his disciples of the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Although Jesus will no longer be present physically, those who continue in his love will

know his abiding presence together with that of the Father. The Holy Spirit will be their

counsellor and bring Jesus’ own words to mind. Jesus shares these things with his

followers before they take place, and he gives them his peace.

Letter from the Rector

Dear Members,

Retiring Collection

Special thanks to those persons who contributed to our Building Fund with special emphasis on the recent repairs to the Church roof. Last Sunday we collected $5351.45 at both services.

I know that other persons were unable to contribute last Sunday to this fund. You might not have attended church on this occasion, or might have forgotten to bring your donation. An opportunity will be provided on the last Sunday of this month, 26 May for another Collection.

I look forward to all members making a special contribution to this work.

Offering Envelopes for 2014

The Church Council has made a decision to use only monthly envelopes from next year. This means that we are discontinuing with weekly envelopes. A number of reasons have resulted in this decision:- 1. The cost of the envelopes.

2. The cost of bulk postage from the USA.

3. The monthly envelopes will be cheaper to produce and to post.

4. The wastage of these envelopes, with many of them left unused every year.

5. Persons in many cases have been using one for the month, and leaving the others empty and attached to the one which carries the money.

It is hoped that we all would be able to make a calculation of the exact monthly figure. Multiply your weekly contribution by five (5) and come to your final figure.

I am suggesting that persons use the facility offered by Government, through the Inland Revenue to claim on their income tax, and benefit from any refunds which are available.

We are seeking to be more efficient and more cost effective through this venture.

Supper

Tickets are available for the Supper which will be held on Saturday 08 June 2013. The Supper List is also available for members to indicate what items they will be contributing to this event.

Please note that the Food Handling Certificates for persons who will be working at the Supper are needed by Sunday 19 May 2013 in order to apply for the Restaurant Licence.

him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, said in a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he sprang up and walked. And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, because he was the chief speaker, they called Hermes. And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates and wanted to offer sacrifice with the people. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their garments and rushed out among the multitude, crying, "Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways; yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness." With these words they scarcely restrained the people from offering sacrifice to them.

PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: 67 (as found in Hymns Ancient & Modern)

1. GOD be merciful unto us, and bless us : and shew us the light of his countenance, and be merciful unto us: 2. That thy way may be known upon earth : thy saving health among all nations. 3. Let the people praise thee, O God : yea, let all the people praise thee. 4. O let the nations rejoice and be glad : for thou shalt judge the folk righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. 5. Let the people praise thee, O God : let all the people praise thee. 6. Then shall the earth bring forth her increase : and God, even our own God, shall give us his blessing. 7. God shall bless us : and all the ends of the world shall fear him.

SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: Revelation 21:22-22:5

I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light shall the nations walk; and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it, and its gates shall never be shut by day -- and there shall be no night there; they shall bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life. Then he showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There shall no more be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall worship him; they shall see his face, and his name shall be on their foreheads. And night shall be no more; they need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they shall reign for ever and ever.

THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: John 14:23-29

Jesus said to Judas (not Iscariot), "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me. "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, `I go away, and I

Bidding Prayer

For the peace which comes from above, let us pray to the Lord.

Keep the Church in peace, and draw all believers together into one unbroken love…Guided by the Holy Spirit, may her ministers proclaim the gospel by word and example.

Grant peace to the world, peace among nations and races, peace in the hearts of all people…Bless those who hold authority, and incline their wills to seek peace and to maintain it.

We pray that the Lord may be with us and make his home in our homes…Keep us in love and respect for all those who are near to us in family, work or friendship…Give to all in this community the blessing of peace and harmony.

Have mercy on all who suffer where peace is broken, on the victims of war and violence…Have mercy on those who experience domestic violence, and grant that love shall prevail and drive away anger.

We pray for those who have passed through death from the troubles of this world…Receive them into the peace of eternal life, where their Lord has gone before.

May our prayers be heard through Christ and who gives us his peace. Amen.

Dedication Prayer (To be said after the Post Communion Prayer) Lord, be with us this day and throughout the week; Within us to purify us; Above us to draw us up; Before us to lead us; Behind us to restrain us; Around us to protect us. Amen.
