Year 3

We’re all very proud of all the work we created for last week's exhibition. We had our own tour around the school and particularly enjoyed the visit to Hogwarts! In English we've been planning our Biographies on Hokusai who is a famous Japanese artist.

Woodlands

In Maple class we had a very busy OT session. We have been creating hedgehogs with “play-doh” & paper spikes!

Year 2

This week in maths we have been learning how to use a number line to add two 2-digit numbers. We know that when we add a multiple of ten to a number we use our spider counting so the ones digit doesn't change! This really helps us when we are counting on a number line, because we can add the tens in one jump and then just add the ones.

EYFS On Thursday RVD visited our allotment. We weeded the garden to make room for new plants to grow in the Spring. We also harvested some potatoes and a courgettes that were even bigger than our heads!

Year 1

This week we have been learning to take away by counting backwards! We read a story called Elevator Magic, where a boy has to work out how to get his lift to different magical floors from the top of a ten story building! Can you practise counting backwards from any number at home?

Year 4 .

We have been learning to divide 3 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using the bus stop method. We found it very tricky at first but we are getting a hang of it now. In English, we are really enjoying writing our own Greek Myths. We also had the best time at our Christmas Lunch on Wednesday!

Year 5

This week we have been focusing on grammar. After spending time editing and publishing work for our exhibition, we thought that we'd refresh our understanding of word classes, noun types, punctuation and prepositions in time for a Christmas story write next week. In maths we were very busy learning about prime numbers, square numbers and factor pairs. We even found time to make hats for Netley's Christmas dinner!

Year 6

On Tuesday we were very lucky to have a visit from the Operating Theatre Live. We donned our surgeons gowns and face masks, learned how to listen to their heart with a stethoscope, and then had the opportunity to interact with REAL organs! We had a go at carrying out a heart transplant and discovered how the respiratory system all fits together. What a wonderful experience!”

Attendance Leader-board

Captain Timely says: “I am very pleased with the school this week as a whole, although am still disappointed that 1RK, 4KW, 2TS, MAPLE and WILLOW have failed to reach the rather modest target of 96% attendance.

There is no class that has been consistently below target this term, and so if it can be achieved in some weeks, there is no reason why it cannot be met in others!”
