Covid-19 Special Measures
We are all in this together – help control the virus. Arena UK and the VHS have put in place special measures to maintain social distancing to protect you and others whilst at the National Veteran Championships. All of us attending the show, whether as a competitor, a helper or an official, have a responsibility to protect ourselves and others. We must all work together to ensure that the rules are adhered to and we can have an enjoyable, positive experience and go home safely. By entering the show, you agree that you and all other members of your party will follow the signage, adhere to the rules and comply with any requests made by officials at the event. We thank you in advance for your full cooperation.
• Government guidelines regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and social distancing are subject to change. Updated rules and guidance for our event will be posted on the Veteran Horse Society website in the lead up to the show. It is your responsibility to ensure you read these updates and if you are unable to comply with the rules/guidelines, you must not travel to or attend the event.
• If any of the following apply to you or a member of your party, you must not attend the show. See government guidance: www.gov.uk o You feel unwell. o You have a new continuous cough. o You have a high temperature.
o You are experiencing a loss of or change in sense of smell or taste (anosmia). o You are shielding - in the high risk, clinically extremely vulnerable category. o You self-isolating for any reason, including having had contact with someone with symptoms or a positive Covid-19 result, or returning
from abroad from a non-exempt country. o You been asked to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace service.
• Test and Trace: You must provide contact details for you and your party and by doing so, you consent to these being shared with NHS Test and Trace if required.
• Temperature checks: Temperature checks will be carried out at the showground. Anybody found to have a high temperature will not be allowed onto the showground or, if already on site, will be asked to leave immediately.
• Toilets and wash facilities: Competitors should provide their own toilet and wash facilities in their vehicle. Where toilets are available on site, these will be cleaned regularly. Please ensure that you sanitise your hands before and after using them.
• Social Distancing: Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to at all times. Stay at least a metre away from people not in your household. This includes travelling to the show, at the ring side, in the buildings, stable blocks, and in the horsebox park.
• Face coverings: Please use face coverings when inside the buildings.
• Show Office: Please avoid coming to the Show Office. If you have any urgent queries, please call or email the office. Contact details: 07977 002710 / 07789 514004 / [email protected]
• Class Caps: Class numbers will be capped and this maximum may not be exceeded.
• Late entries: Late entries may be made up to two hours in advance of the class, space permitting. Late entries may only be made using the
online entry system only. www.myridinglife.com/eventdetails.aspx?id=322187. Late entry fee applies. No cash or paper entries on the day.
• Class Switches: Unfortunately it will not be possible to accommodate class switches this year and classes will not be held for missing or late
competitors.
• Withdrawals: Please advise the office at the earliest opportunity if you wish to withdraw from any class.
Email [email protected] or text 07977 002710 with the class number and your name.
• Class Splits: Classes may be split into sections order to maintain low group numbers. This may affect presentation of prizes and eligibility for Championships – details for affected classes will be provided on the VHS website one week before the show.
• No classes will be stripped. This includes Regional Final and Supreme Final classes. Grooms will not be required, or permitted, in the ring.
• Anybody not adhering to the rules will be asked to leave the showground, forfeiting all entry fees, prizes and stabling costs.
Be vigilant, Be kind, Respect each other, Maintain safe distance and enjoy the event.

Kindly sponsored by BAX Equine and Canine – Quality, bespoke products for horses, riders and dogs. All from the BAX brand. Visit us at our website www.BAXEquine.com. Team event. For your team, you will require: one rider and one horse/pony, one handler and one dog. The rider is to complete the course of small jumps on a horse/pony first. Upon crossing the finish line, they are to hand their whip to their team mate who will then complete the same course of jumps with a dog (on a lead). If a rider prefers to do both rounds themselves, they may do so and rather than passing their whip to their partner, they must exchange their horse/pony for the dog. The handover must be secure as a loose animal will result in the team being disqualified. Penalties will be awarded for a knockdown / refusal. Prizes Members, competitors and friends are all invited to bring small (or large!) prizes, to be donated to the tombola and auction. In the past we have had some very generous gifts and, thanks to our kind supporters, have been able to raise hundreds of pounds through this event for our charity Veteran Equine Trust which dedicated to the care and welfare of veteran horses and ponies. Prizes really can be anything you like from: unwanted gifts, chocolates, wine, cakes, horsey items, gift vouchers, pictures, experiences or even maybe a holiday! Each and every prize is very much appreciated. Please bring your prizes along to the VHS Show Office when you arrive where they will be put on display for all to see. Prizes will be split across both our tombola and auction events.
Tombola (To be drawn approx. 4pm on Saturday) This year we have changed the format of this so that this is not too late in the evening for our younger supporters who always love to be involved. We hope this change will suit everybody. Raffle tickets for the tombola will be on sale in the Show Office from Thursday through to 4pm on Saturday when the Tombola will be drawn. Winning tickets will be displayed on the prizes in the Show Office and these can be collected at any time after the draw, through to Sunday lunchtime. Please remember to check the Show Office opening hours. 21:00 onwards Auction and Social Evening, to be held in the Main Arena Café / Bar area The Saturday Night Auction has now become a very popular part of the Championship weekend and gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy a fun and light hearted social occasion at the same time as raising vital funds for our charity. Everybody is welcome at this relaxed and friendly event, so come and join in the fun. This is always a popular night and although there is plenty of space in the bar area, if you are a bigger group wishing to share a table we advise you arrive in plenty of time. Following the auction many of our competitors stay on to enjoy the social atmosphere and enjoy a drink catching up with old friends and making new ones. The café will be serving food during the early evening and the bar will be open throughout the evening, until late. Please remember that it is not permissible to bring any alcohol into the buildings which has not been purchased on site.

How to Find Us - Maps & Directions
Address: Arena UK, Allington Lane, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF
The venue requests that all competitors please use the A1 to access Arena UK.
There is direct access from the Gonerby Moor, North Grantham interchange on the A1 (Grantham Services). Follow signs to Equestrian Centre which is only approximately half a mile from the A1. The alternative route from the A52, through Sedgebrook and Allington is not suitable for horseboxes due to narrow roads and a (12ft) height restriction bridge. It is also a residential area and the residents would appreciate if the traffic flow coming through their villages could be reduced on show days.

2. The Veteran Horse Society will hold your information within our system for an indefinite period as VHS membership numbers are unique to each individual member rather than their horse/pony.
3. The Veteran Horse Society may publish results from any/all classes held at the National Veteran Championships, including competitor’s names and their horse/pony names and ages and final positions. This data may be made public and shared with third parties for publication. Competitors consent to their data being shared for this purpose.
4. The Veteran Horse Society may publish photographs from the National Veteran Championships for publicity purposes and competitors consent to photographs of themselves and their horse/pony being used for this purpose.

A Welfare Officer will be present at the show and will investigate any concerns raised to the organisers.

clashed, it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to decide which class they will enter. Judges will be advised of the desire to accommodate all competitors but ultimately the judge will decide when to commence their class.
18. The organisers cannot be held responsible where a competitor has entered more than one class and a clash occurs. Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to allow competitors to compete in both classes, this may not always be possible. The judge’s decision is final.
19. It is mandatory for all competitors to wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved BSI or European standard, at all times when mounted, with the exception of side saddle exhibits where SSA rules apply (with the only exception that no spurs or spur bands are allowed).

If you are planning to attend the National Veteran Championships this year, why not consider becoming a member of the VHS before you come? Members enjoy preferential rates on entry fees and your membership fee will go towards supporting the work of the society. This support is particularly gratefully received during these very challenging times. The Veteran Horse Society is dedicated to promoting the enjoyment, care and welfare or horses and ponies 15 years old and over. Founded over 20 years ago, the VHS is the leading authority in advice and education in the care, feeding and welfare of older equines. The VHS Showing series has grown in popularity over the years.
