Upon crossing the finish line, they are to hand their whip to their team mate who will then complete the same course of jumps with a dog (on a lead). If a rider prefers to do both rounds themselves, they may do so and rather than passing their whip to their partner, they must exchange their horse/pony for the dog. Prizes Members, competitors and friends are all invited to bring small (or large!) prizes, to be donated to the tombola and auction. In the past we have had some very generous gifts and, thanks to our kind supporters, have been able to raise hundreds of pounds through this event for our charity Veteran Horse Welfare which dedicated to the care and welfare of veteran horses and ponies. Prizes really can be anything you like from: unwanted gifts, chocolates, wine, cakes, horsey items, gift vouchers, pictures, experiences or even maybe a holiday! Each and every prize is very much appreciated. Please bring your prizes along to the VHS Show Office when you arrive where they will be put on display for all to see. Prizes will be split across both our tombola and auction events.
Tombola (To be drawn approx. 4pm on Saturday) This year we have changed the format of this so that this is not too late in the evening for our younger supporters who always love to be involved. We hope this change will suit everybody. Raffle tickets for the tombola will be on sale in the Show Office from Thursday through to 4pm on Saturday when the Tombola will be drawn. Winning tickets will be displayed on the prizes in the Show Office and these can be collected at any time after the draw, through to Sunday lunchtime. Please remember to check the Show Office opening hours. 21:00 Auction and Social Evening, to be held in the Main Arena Café / Bar area The Saturday Night Auction has now become a very popular part of the Championship weekend and gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy a fun and light hearted social occasion at the same time as raising vital funds for our charity. Everybody is welcome at this relaxed and friendly event, so come and join in the fun. This is always a popular night and although there is plenty of space in the bar area, if you are a bigger group wishing to share a table we advise you arrive in plenty of time. Following the auction many of our competitors stay on to enjoy the social atmosphere and enjoy a drink catching up with old friends and making new ones. The café will be serving food during the early evening and the bar will be open throughout the evening, until late. Please remember that it is not permissible to bring any alcohol into the buildings which has not been purchased on site.

Show Regulations
YOUR DATA 1. Online entries to the National Veteran Championships are made using software supplied by a GDPR compliant third party. Paper
entries received by the VHS will be loaded onto the same third party software which is then used to produce all the necessary show paperwork. It is a condition of entry that all competitors entering the National Veteran Championships consent to their data being shared with the third party.
2. The Veteran Horse Society will hold your information within our system for an indefinite period as VHS membership numbers are unique to each individual member rather than their horse/pony. Paperwork will be held for a maximum of 2 years in respect of National Veteran Championship entries.
3. The Veteran Horse Society may publish results from any/all classes held at the National Veteran Championships, including competitor’s names and their horse/pony names and ages and final positions. This data may be made public and shared with third parties for publication. Competitors consent to their data being shared for this purpose.
4. The Veteran Horse Society may publish photographs from the National Veteran Championships for publicity purposes and competitors consent to photographs of themselves and their horse/pony being used for this purpose.
GENERAL SHOW RULES 1. This show is run in accordance with Veteran Horse Society rules. Please refer to VHS Rulebook and also visit the VHS website where
any amendments/updates will be published. 2. By entering any class at this show, the competitor agrees to abide by all aspects of Veteran Horses Society rules, including those in the
VHS Rulebook and those explicitly outlined in this schedule. 3. Exhibitors under the age of 18 must have the declaration on the entry form signed by a parent/guardian.
40
4. Failure to observe any of the rules may result in disqualification of the horse/pony concerned and/or the Exhibitor may be requested to leave the showground immediately.
5. Exhibitors are required to have public liability insurance cover for their exhibits and it is strongly recommended that the exhibitor fully insure their personal property whilst attending the Championships.
6. The VHS operates a zero tolerance to offensive, abusive or unpleasant behaviour whether it is directed to its officials, members or other supporters. Any person found to be acting in this unacceptable manner will be asked to leave the showground and may be subject to disciplinary actions. Should an individual be ejected then all monies paid for stabling, entry fees or monies won will be forfeited.
7. The VHS has a commitment to the protection of equines from any form of abuse, whether it is from misuse of a whip, inappropriate or ill-fitting bit/saddlery/boots, the restriction of fresh water or forage or any other abuse. A Welfare Officer will be present at the show and will investigate any concerns raised to the organisers.
8. All exhibitors are asked to be aware of animals on the Showground and ensure that all exhibits are fit and well. If anybody has reason to believe that a horse/pony is unfit or unwell, they must report this to the organisers immediately.
9. All horses to be accompanied by a valid equine passport which must be produced upon request. 10. All entry fees, stabling and electric hook-up charges are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, on the submission of a written
request, with corroborative medical or veterinary certification, then the Show Secretary has the discretion to award a full or partial refund of entry fees alone.
11. Entries will not be accepted without full payment. 12. Any cheque which fails to clear will be subject to a £25 administration fee for each occasion it has to be represented. If contact is
made with the Show Secretary and cash forwarded then mounting representation charges can be avoided. 13. Competitor numbers can be collected from the Show Secretary on the day. 14. Horse/Pony age badges should be worn in all classes. Age badges are supplied with show cards or can be ordered directly from VHS
Head Office. A limited supply will be available for purchase from the Show Secretary on the day. 15. The VHS has the right to refuse entry of any individual to any class without explanation. 16. The VHS has the right to limit entries, change, cancel, split or amalgamate classes as they see fit. 17. All competitors are reminded that whilst the Show Secretary will make all reasonable effort to support individuals where classes have
clashed, it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to decide which class they will enter. Judges will be advised of the desire to accommodate all competitors but ultimately the judge will decide when to commence their class.
18. The organisers cannot be held responsible where a competitor has entered more than one class and a clash occurs. Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to allow competitors to compete in both classes, this may not always be possible. The judge’s decision is final.
19. It is mandatory for all competitors to wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved BSI or European standard, at all times when mounted, with the exception of side-saddle exhibits where SSA rules apply (with the only exception that no spurs or spur bands are allowed).

showground. Any loose dog will be impounded and their owner fined £40 on its return. All owners/handlers are required to clean up after their dog(s) and anyone failing to do so will be fined £40 and may be asked to leave the showground immediately. All fines will be donated directly to Veteran Horse Welfare charity No: 1104072.
28. The organisers do not accept any liability for any accident, injury, loss, damage or illness to any riders, handlers, spectators, horses, ponies or to any property whatsoever and howsoever caused.
29. How to Find Us - Maps & Directions
Address: Arena UK, Allington Lane, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF
The venue requests that all competitors please use the A1 to access Arena UK.
There is direct access from the Gonerby Moor, North Grantham interchange on the A1 (Grantham Services). Follow signs to Equestrian Centre which is only approximately half a mile from the A1. The alternative route from the A52, through Sedgebrook and Allington is not suitable for horseboxes due to narrow roads and a (12ft) height restriction bridge. It is also a residential area and the residents would appreciate if the traffic flow coming through their villages could be reduced on show days.
