Show Regulations
GENERAL SHOW RULES 1. This show is run in accordance with Veteran Horse Society rules. Please refer to VHS Rulebook and also visit the VHS website where
any amendments/updates will be published. 2. By entering any class at this show, the competitor agrees to abide by all aspects of Veteran Horses Society rules, including those in the
VHS Rulebook and those explicitly outlined in this schedule. 3. Exhibitors under the age of 18 must have the declaration on the entry form signed by a parent/guardian. 4. Failure to observe any of the rules may result in disqualification of the horse/pony concerned and/or the Exhibitor may be requested
to leave the showground immediately. 5. Exhibitors are required to have public liability insurance cover for their exhibits and it is strongly recommended that the exhibitor fully
insure their personal property whilst attending the Championships. 6. The VHS operates a zero tolerance to offensive, abusive or unpleasant behaviour whether it is directed to its officials, members or
other supporters. Any person found to be acting in this unacceptable manner will be asked to leave the showground and may be subject to disciplinary actions. Should an individual be ejected then all monies paid for stabling, entry fees or monies won will be forfeited.
7. The VHS has a commitment to the protection of equines from any form of abuse, whether it is from misuse of a whip, inappropriate or ill-fitting bit/saddlery/boots, the restriction of fresh water or forage or any other abuse. A Welfare Officer will be present at the show and will investigate any concerns raised to the organisers.
8. All exhibitors are asked to be aware of animals on the Showground and ensure that all exhibits are fit and well. If anybody has reason to believe that a horse/pony is unfit or unwell, they must report this to the organisers immediately.
9. All horses to be accompanied by a valid equine passport which must be produced upon request. 10. All entry fees, stabling and electric hook-up charges are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, on the submission of a written
request, with corroborative medical or veterinary certification, then the Show Secretary has the discretion to award a full or partial refund of entry fees alone.
11. Entries will not be accepted without full payment. 12. Any cheque which fails to clear will be subject to a £25 administration fee for each occasion it has to be represented. If contact is
made with the Show Secretary and cash forwarded then mounting representation charges can be avoided. 13. Competitor numbers can be collected from the Show Secretary on the day. 14. Horse/Pony age badges should be worn in all classes. Age badges are supplied with show cards or can be ordered directly from VHS
Head Office. A limited supply will be available for purchase from the Show Secretary on the day. 15. The VHS has the right to refuse entry of any individual to any class without explanation. 16. The VHS has the right to limit entries, change, cancel, split or amalgamate classes as they see fit. 17. All competitors are reminded that whilst the Show Secretary will make all reasonable effort to support individuals where classes have
clashed, it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to decide which class they will enter. Judges will be advised of the desire to accommodate all competitors but ultimately the judge will decide when to commence their class.
18. The organisers cannot be held responsible where a competitor has entered more than one class and a clash occurs. Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to allow competitors to compete in both classes, this may not always be possible. The judge’s decision is final.
19. It is mandatory for all competitors to wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved BSI or European standard, at all times when mounted, with the exception of side-saddle exhibits where SSA rules apply (with the only exception that no spurs or spur bands are allowed).
20. Costume concours d’elegance classes, Evening Performance, Open Class Final & Supreme Finals only - It is strongly advised that all competitors wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved BSI or European standard or above and it is mandatory for all competitors under the age of 18 to do so. Adults not wearing such hats do so at their own risk and must lodge a disclaimer form with the Show Secretary at least 1 hour before the class, stating their acceptance of the risk. The signed counterfoil must be carried with them in the ring. Failure to carry the signed counterfoil may result in disqualification. Choice of headgear will not affect marks in any way.
21. Body Protectors may be worn and are recommended whilst competing in Working Veteran classes. 22. Motorbikes and quad bikes are not be permitted on the Showground. 23. Bicycles and scooters must not be ridden near rings or horses. 24. Buggies and mobility vehicles may not be driven around the show, unless an exemption has been granted in writing by the organisers.
Only exhibitors with a medical disability will be granted dispensation. All persons must be over 18 years of age and have a valid licence and appropriate insurance.
25. Dogs are not allowed into any of the buildings on the showground. Dogs are to be kept on a lead at all times when on the showground. Any loose dog will be impounded and their owner fined £40 on its return. All owners/handlers are required to clean up after their dog(s) and anyone failing to do so will be fined £40 and may be asked to leave the showground immediately. All fines will be donated directly to Veteran Horse Welfare charity No: 1104072.
26. The organisers do not accept any liability for any accident, injury, loss, damage or illness to any riders, handlers, spectators, horses, ponies or to any property whatsoever and howsoever caused.
27. Whilst the VHS Show team take Health and Safety very seriously, they look to all those in attendance to support them and to play their part in keeping any risks and potential accidents to an absolute minimum. Any concerns to this effect must be raised without delay to the Show Secretary. We accept that riding, leading and generally being around horses has inherent risks, so please work with us to keep this to an absolute minimum. All competitors compete ultimately at their own risk.
28. The VHS complaints and disciplinary procedure apply, ass set out in the VHS Rulebook.

How to Find Us - Maps & Directions
Address: Arena UK, Allington Lane, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32 2EF
The venue requests that all competitors please use the A1 to access Arena UK.
There is direct access from the Gonerby Moor, North Grantham interchange on the A1 (Grantham Services). Follow signs to Equestrian Centre which is only approximately half a mile from the A1. The alternative route from the A52, through Sedgebrook and Allington is not suitable for horseboxes due to narrow roads and a (12ft) height restriction bridge. It is also a residential area and the residents would appreciate if the traffic flow coming through their villages could be reduced on show days.
