Support your Gardens Wildlife. As increasing development threatens natural food sources, it is more

important than ever that we all play our part in supporting our garden

wildlife. Feeding wild birds throughout the year is key to the survival of

many species which rely on a consistent supply of nutritious food.

At Bailey’s we stock nuts, seeds and treats to suit a range of wild bird

feeding requirements, together with feeders such as the Doughnut and

Twister, and squirrel-proof feeders. We have everything you need to

attract a wide range of species to your garden and help them thrive.

Here are some tips to get the best results -

Always maintain a continuous supply of fresh food, as birds will

come to depend on the food you put out, but…

Only put out as much food as will be consumed in one or two days,

to prevent spoilage.

Consider different foods and feeding methods. Some birds can hang

from feeders while others may prefer table or ground feeding.

Try to supply a variety of food types, including grains, seeds, fruits,

fat balls and meal worms, so the birds can instinctively select what

they need to supplement their natural diets.

Always provide fresh, clean water, especially if the weather is icy.

Remember that feeding stations should be located near cover.

However, if there is a risk from cats, sparrow hawks, or other

predators, a greater distance from cover should be allowed. If

unsure, 2 metres from cover is a suggested happy medium.

Always store wild bird food in a cool, dry place.

The Winter WarmerWinter is still very much with

us. If you purchase our

coals, logs and kindling you

will know how competitive

we are. If not our Group C Coal produces a lot of heat with a

mesmerising flame. Our Taybrite is designed for Multi burners and

making the best of damp wood, it is slow burning, burns with out clinker

and throws out a lot of Heat – at £8.50 a great fuel.

WormingSpring is coming it will soon be time to tackle

the annual equine worm battle. Karen recently found unusually high

worm counts at an open day in Devon. Now either ‘them in Devon’ don’t

know what they are doing or possibly it is going to be a bad year for

worms! Either way we are offering a worm count service this year, and

are collecting samples at the shop on Monday 7th and 21st March.

Please come in and collect your sample bags and instructions on how to

get the best out of samples taken. *Do not worm at least two weeks

before a worm count*
