In reading this book, the setting depends on the reader turning

the pages. The book, environment and the time the reader turns

the pages seems to set the story and gives the reader the choice

whether to turn the page or not.

Problem is that GROVER is scared of

monsters so he tries to block the pages

so the reader can’t turn pages e.g. “ I

am tying the pages together so you

cannot….”

Grover tries to block the pages from turning

because he is really scared of “the monster at

end of this book”.

Page 5: The monster at the end of this book

After all the trouble Grover has gone through to stop

the reader from turning the page, believing that there

is a monster at the end of the book, in a way also

encourages the reader to read on, Grover and the reader both find that it was only “the lovable furry old

Grover” was the monster at the end of this book.

Grover was “so embarrassed”
