• Thank God that you are His child and that He is your perfect Father! It is always wise, before we pray, to spend time deliberately recalling who God is. The word for ‘Father’ is ‘Abba’, meaning ‘Papa’. (Romans 8:15) This speaks of how much God cares for us. He is the One who cares for us. (1 Peter 5:7)

• Read Psalm 8:1. By the “name” of God is meant all those attributes through which He is revealed to us – His power, goodness, wisdom, holiness, mercy, and truth. By stating God’s name that it be “hallowed,” we mean that, “May His name be made known and glorified.”

• Pray: “May Your name be glorified and magnified in and through my life.”• Is there a new or fresh thought about God the Father?

• “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness...” Matthew 6:33• Pray: “Lord, let me seek no other kingdom but Yours.” God’s kingdom means what God rules over.• We can pray “Lord, come into my own heart, rule there, take the throne there; make me completely Yours.”• Is there a good example to follow? • Is there a sin to avoid?• This part of the prayer is a good time for intercessory prayer. What is intercessory prayer?• We also can pray for the return of the Lord.

• Is there a good example to follow? • For God’s perfect will to be done in your life – for yourself and others.• Pray: “May God’s will, and not my will, be done in and through my life.”• This is a good time to pray for those who are actively doing the work of the Lord, such as: missionaries, pastors,

children’s ministry teachers, etc.
