Various sensational heinous cases have been worked out during the past six months, law and order situation is under control and sincere efforts are made by Traffic police of Aizawl city to provide smooth flow of traffic. Huge seizures of illegal arms, ammunition and various contraband drugs have been made by the Mizoram Police. Efforts are being made for creation of more infrastructures by making new police station buildings, offices and housing for the staff. Police modernization projects are being implemented at a fast pace, CCTNS project is at an advanced stage and in house training of police personnel is taken up in the right earnest. Mizoram Police has also created SDRF for making Mizoram safe towards disasters. Our SDRF is deployed regularly to handle landslides and other natural disasters occurring in Mizoram. However, we will have to be ready and prepared to face new challenges. The world is changing at a fast pace and criminals are adopting modern technology to commit crime and to evade arrest. Therefore, Mizoram police has to rise to the occasion to tackle such crimes and criminals. Professional, proactive and community policing is the need of the hour. Respect of human rights and dignity of the individuals whether subordinates or public should be adhered to. I am quite confident that our officers and men will rise up to these challenges and make Mizoram a better, safer and more peaceful state through their professional competence, humanitarian values and training. On 29.03.2015 at 8:00 AM, a funeral was held at the Mizoram Armed Police (MAP) First Battalion headquarters in Aizawl with full police honours for the three Mizoram policemen who were gunned down during an ambush near Zokhawthiang Village (at Mizoram’s northern border with Assam and Manipur) on 28.03.2015.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his cabinet colleagues, legislators, Chief Secretary Lalmalsawma, DGP(M) Sh.Dharmendra Kumar and other senior Police officials and families of the departed martyrs paid their last respects by laying wreaths.

FUNERAL HELD WITH FULL POLICE HONOURS FOR THE THREE BRAVE MARTYRS OF MIZORAM POLICE

SAFE RETURN OF KIDNAPPED PERSONS FROM NLFT/BDFM

On 02.02.2015, a combined group of suspected NLFT and BDFM ultras carrying sophisticated arms intercepted a truck belonging to BRTF 481 RMPL and a Motor Bike 7 Kms away from Tuipuibari and 50 Kms from West Phaileng. The militants took 22 persons boarding the vehicle and motor bike as hostages. Later 20 of them were released, but (1) Hukum Singh (51yrs) JE and (2) Thangchhuaka (46yrs) Driver of Ramthar Veng, Aizawl were abducted. The militants crossed over to Bangladesh alongwith the two abductees. A massive operation was launched by Mizoram Police for their release. After a long negotiation with the militants, Thangchhuaka, Driver was released on 7.2.2015 and Hukum Singh was released on 9.2.2015 without any ransom due to the sustained efforts of Mizoram Police.

HPC(D) CADRES APPREHENDED

On 16.4.2015, Mizoram Police CID(SB) Operation Team apprehended the following cadres of HPC-D at Ram Nagar, Silchar, Assam:

(1) S/S Army Chief Lalropui Famhoite (47yrs) s/o Rimoi, Saikot, Churachanpur, Manipur.

(2) S/S Finance Secretary Norbar Sanate (46yrs) s/o Khupa (L), Hmarkhawlian, Cachar, Assam

(3) S/S Pvt. Ngurthantluanga Sanate (29yrs) s/o Siamlien, Ngurte, Churachanpur, Manipur.

They are wanted in several cases registered under Aizawl and Kolasib Districts.

XVI MIZORAM POLICE SPORTS MEET-2015 SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED

Under the aegis of the Mizoram Police Sports & Cultural Control Board (MPSCCB), the XVI Mizoram Police Sports Meet 2015 was held in different sports discipline for members of the Mizoram Police during 23rd - 27th February 2015 at Aizawl.

Sh. Zodintluanga, Hon'ble Sports Minister was the Chief Guest in the Opening Ceremony of the XVI Mizoram Police Sports Meet 2015 held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mualpui on 23.02.2015.

Participants from various police units were divided into 12 (twelve) strong contingents by combining various units based on their geographical locations. 1228 sportsmen and athletes belonging to different units of Mizoram Police participated in 17 (seventeen) different events held at 9(nine) different venues.

Central Range Contingent (comprising of Aizawl DEF and Traffic Unit) bagged Championship Trophy by winning 21 Gold, 9 Silver and 11 Bronze Medals.

SOLVING SENSATIONAL CASES

On the night of 09.01.2015, an unknown criminal entered into the residence of Sangliansiama at Republic Veng, Aizawl and killed five (5) family members of the house with a sharp weapon. During investigation, the accused Laltlanchhuaha (37) was safely evacuated from the fury of the mob and formally arrested.

One Lalnunmawia Zadeng (35) of Babutlang, Aizawl who went out from his house on the night of 31.12.2014 with his Scooty bike was reported missing. During enquiry, the dead body of the missing person was found at the outskirt of Aizawl City in a highly decomposed state on 08.01.2015. Due to the hard work and dedicated efforts of the police, the accused Vanlalramropuia (20) of Thuampui Aizawl was arrested and recovery of the deceased’s vehicle and mobile handset was made.

One minor Chakma girl from Chawngte Town, Lawngtlai District was kidnapped on 09.01.2015 and trafficked to Bangalore. Due to the dedicated and sustained efforts of Mizoram Police, she was rescued and accused was also arrested.

DIG (Northern Range), the Chief Controller of Village Defence Party (VDP) in Mizoram allotted VDP Equipments to District SPs for distribution to 399 Active VDP Units of Mizoram. 1 Torchlight, 3 Torchlight Battery and 3 whistles were given to each VDP Unit on 12.3.2015

Sh. Joseph Lalchhuana IPS who took over the charge on 7th May 2015 as DIG (Southern Range) introduced a new initiative of policing. The Police Response Time to any call/situation within Lunglei town area will be 20 minutes, within Lawngtlai town area will be 20 minutes and within Saiha town area will be 15 minutes.

AIZAWL CITY SURVEILLANCE PROJECT INAUGURATED

State Home minister R. Lalzirlliana on 25.05.2015 inaugurated the Aizawl City Surveillance Project under which 56 CCTV cameras for the first phase were installed at 10 different locations in Aizawl. The project was implemented from the Modernization of State Police Force (MPF) fund under the Home Ministry.

The main control room is set up at the office of SP Aizawl while sub-control rooms are being set up at the Traffic Police Control Room and 4 police stations in the city.

3rd Bn. MAP personnel (one platoon) were given Counter Insurgency Training during 18.05.2015 – 13.06.2015 at Sector Battle Training School (SBTS), Seling under 10th Assam Rifles, Mizoram.
