I wonder what affection Jesus had for Joseph. There is so little that we know about Joseph – not a mention when Jesus is grown. We never get any quotes in the gospels – Joseph never speaks. But we do get a glimpse at the core of the man. He was a man of quiet faith, opening himself whole-heartedly to God, a person obedi-ent to the word of God. I have the image of Joseph being a humble man caring for a young wife and very much at peace in seeing the child Jesus growing in wisdom and maturity. I see Joseph as a man quite confident in what he was about, not knowing what the future held, but knowing that God was going to be there every step of the way. In short, he was a man of faith. And as strange as it sounds, I think faith was his gift to Jesus as he was growing up; he helped the child understand that God was going to be there every step of the way. For being almost anonymous, he’s a wonderful model these last days of Advent!

Corpus Christi Annual Financial Report (July 2015-June 2016)

Dear Friends, Below you will find the financial report for our parish for the 2015-2016 Fiscal Year. I would like to thank the Parish Finance Committee and the Parish Corporation Board for their oversight and aid to ensure the financial viability of the Parish. This is a tireless task, and I thank them for their efforts and help. The Finance Committee meets on a monthly/bimonthly basis to compare actual revenue and expenditures with the budget, note any anom-alies, oversee our accountability and advise the Pastor in terms of income and expenses. In addition, they put to-gether the Yearly Budget and Yearly Financial Report for approval from the Parish Corporation Board and Dio-cese. The bad news first. As you review the report, what is evident is that after Corpus Christi Parish released trust funds from previous years, we suffered a deficit of $1,904. This is better than last year when we had a loss of $14,348. The budget for Fiscal Year 2017 has Corpus Christi expecting income slightly greater than expenses. We are working diligently to be good stewards of the resources you entrust to us. Our only debt is the Sanctuary Loan. At the end of the last fiscal year (June 2016) we owed $2,206,000, a reduc-tion of $139,000. In FY 2015 we completed the process of refinancing the Sanctuary Loan. This resulted in re-ducing the interest rate to 4.75%, removing the balloon payment, and lowering the monthly payment. We are making progress, and I encourage those who have not made a pledge yet to do so. Thank you all for your generosity in building up the Body of Christ here in Southern Arizona. Not just the finan-cial aspect, but your presence and love is a visible sign of Christ. It is always with great joy that I “show you off” to all who visit. Please pray for me as I continue to pray for you. Fr. Chris Orndorff Pastor
