They said good bye and Goose went to the pond and Feathers went to the chicken coop. Feathers thought 'What a good friend I have. I'm so lucky.' The next day Feathers and Goose played catch with a walnut and every thing was well on the farm. The next day Feathers went to Goose's nest to play frisbee but Goose was not there.

Feathers looked and looked for his friend and finally found Goose behind the barn. Goose didn't look happy at all. When Feathers asked him what was wrong he said "Someone stole my lucky feather!" Then he started to cry. Feathers couldn't just watch his friend cry and not do something, so he said "I'll help you find your lucky feather!" Then he said to himself 'Wow a real mystery!' The next day he set off to solve the mystery. He was very excited and had read a lot about mystery and like any good detective he started to look for clues. On the first day of the case he had no luck with finding any clues, so on the next day he was determined to find one. He did, but he found it when he was eating his lunch.

While he was pecking at a pile of grain he found a brown feather. You could guess what he did next. Like any good detective he went off to interview suspects. So the next day he went to the tallest tree in the forest to interview his first suspect.

When he got there he yelled "Hawk, where were you two nights ago?" Hawk answered "why do you want to know?" "I'm solving a mystery," said Feathers. "Okay I'll tell you, I was in my nest feeding my babies." "Okay, thank you."

The next place he visited was the chicken coop. The Rooster lived on top of the chicken coop. When Feathers got there he said to the Rooster "Where were you to nights ago?" "I was on top of the coop resting." "Okay, thanks," said Feathers. Then he set off.

He walked over to the feed house and went to see Chicken who was eating her lunch. He said to her "where were you two nights ago?" " I was taking a bath." "Okay, thank you." Then he walked away and was disappointed on not finding any clue on who the suspect was. He had trouble sleeping that night, because he heard some twigs snapping outside the coop.

The next morning Goose came over to the chicken coop and asked how the mystery was coming. Feathers said he had it almost figured out. When he was taking his afternoon walk with Goose, he noticed a trail of grain leading straight to the barn. Then suddenly he realized that chickens don't take baths. It was all adding up. They rushed into the barn.

Inside they found Chicken with the lucky feather. She said "You caught me." "Why did you do it?" asked Feathers. "Because I wanted to look pretty," said chicken. "But being pretty comes from the inside not the outside," said Feathers.

"Really?" said Chicken. "Yes people don 't care what you look like, they only care if you have a good heart or not" said Feathers. "In that case here, have your feather I don't need it". So Chicken gave Goose back his feather and every thing was almost back to normal, except Feathers became the dectictive he always wanted to be.
