The 2014 programme commenced In June, with the visit to St Anne’s Cathedral Leeds
Monsignor Philip Moger and the Cathedral staff warmly welcomed the Guardians at the Service of Reception; during the following week in Leeds, over 2000 pilgrims came to venerate the Relic Image, coming not only from the city but from the surrounding areas, with many different nationalities being rep-resented. As a result of the visit, the Prolife message was clearly
proclaimed, Our Lady of Guadalupe being the Protectress of the Unborn.
At the close of the visit Monsignor Philip said “It has been a moving and deeply spiritual experience for all who came to venerate and I am sure many Graces and Blessings will flow as a result of this visit”. The Service of Return was led by the Monsignor, with Father Michael Patey (from the Shrine) as co-celebrant.
During the stay in Leeds the Relic Image was
under the care of the Knights of St Columba (Province 5 Leeds) led by the Provincial Grand Knight Denis Bristow; he and his fellow Knights did a fantastic job as hosts, as a result of the visit, five Home Shrine Devotion groups have been established among Leeds’ families.

The Miraculous Relic Image continued its pilgrimage with a visit to the Cathedral of St John the Baptist Norwich. Once again pilgrims travelled, from all over the Diocese of East Anglia including St Neots, Cambridge, Peterborough and Yarmouth plus a group of Carmelites from Aylesford Priory (Kent) . Well over a 1000 people came to the Cathedral and there were record sales of repository items! Once again, the Relic Image was under the watchful care of the
Knights of St Columba (Province 27 East Anglia) led by Chris Brookes (Provincial Grand Knight). As a result of the visit, four new Home Shrine groups were established within the Dio-cese and there were requests for the Relic Image to visit Peterbor-ough and Aylesford. Finally - the words of Fr James Walsh (Dean of the Cathedral) “This has been a spiritual and uplift-ing experience for us all and all who came to venerate Our Lady’s
Miraculous Relic Image and we hope to be blessed by a future visit in your busy programme of Pilgrimage.

visited St John’s Cathedral,
Portsmouth from Friday 5th
September until Thursday the
11th for our final visit of the 2014
programme.
The arrival of the Miraculous
Relic Image was greeted by over
200 people in the Cathedral
where a wonderful, spiritual
service took place with great
music. The Press were waiting to
interview the Guardians and to
take photographs and the event
was covered by local ITV news on
the Thursday night and again on
the Friday lunchtime.
Once again, pilgrims had trav-
elled long distances from
Plymouth, also from Newbury,
Bournemouth and Swindon to
name but a few. It is estimated

Father Roy Karakkattu has recently joined St Joseph’s Bedford as assistant Priest and one of his first jobs was to accept the position of Chaplin to the Guardians of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Fr Roy tells us about himself:
“I was born in Kerala, one of the tiny states in India. There are seven of us in the family and basically we engage our-selves in local agriculture.
After matriculation, I joined the congregation of the Missionaries of St Francis De Sales (MSFS). I had my Philosophical studies in
Suvidya College, which is in Bangalore and Bachelor degree under Bangalore University. Next destination was Pune to commence my Masters in Philosophy and later Theological studies. I was ordained a priest in the year 2005. As a priest, I worked among the tribal clans of North East India for six years, mainly in Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya. In 2011, I was appointed to Suvidya College, one of our Formation houses in Bangalore to teach Philosophy and train young seminarians. Having served
for three years there, I have come to England to do my Doctoral studies.”
Father Roy says he is looking forward to working with us in the service of Our Lady of Guadalupe and in promoting the Devotion.

During the third week of August the Miraculous Relic Image spent 4 days with the 1200
young people who gathered at the National Shrine of Our Lady, in Walsingham, Norfolk,
for the Youth 2000 Annual International Youth Prayer Festival. Our Lady of Guadalupe
is Patron of the Youth 2000 movement, young adults journeyed from various parts of
the country to the outdoor Festival held in fields around the National Shrine of Our
Lady. The programme included “international speakers, live music, workshops,
discussions, prayer, sports, social times, evening entertainment and loads more”. Eve
Farren Director of Youth 2000 said she had been impressed with the reverence and
devotion shown by those gathered in the huge circus type tent where the Miraculous
Relic Image was placed on the Central Dias for veneration.

After Stations of the Cross and Benediction, some pilgrims then walked the Holy Mile (in
