This Year’s Guests - 13 Governors Elect and Spouses
THE MILT MATTHEWS GOVERNOR ELECT HOSPITALITY WEEK NEWSLETTER
FROM ROTARY DISTRICT 7120
April 2008 Our 40th Year
Next Year’s Program: January 9 to 17, 2009
Tell your next Governor Elect
about our program and send us his or her email address so we
can send an invitation.
The Program For the past 40 years Brighton Rotary Club and District 7120 have home hosted over 461 Governors Elect and their spouses
from 37 countries worldwide. The idea for the program was conceived in 1969 by PDG Milt Matthews, and has been copied by many other Districts throughout the United States.
Each Governor Elect guest is assigned two Rotary hosts. Their first host meets them at the airport on arrival and takes them to their home. In the middle of the stay, everyone meets at Brighton Rotary Club’s Exchange Dinner. All the hosts and guests have the opportunity to get acquainted and share Rotary experiences. When the meeting is over the guests leave with their second host for the balance of their stay.

Ken Hall’s comparison of the US and Australia
In US there’s more. When you order a
hamburg the waitress wants to know if you want it rare, medium, or well done, with cheese, with onions, mushrooms, hotsause, etc.
In Australia you order a hamburg and you get a hamburg.
“The Eastman House, the world’s oldest photography museum and one of the world’s oldest film archives, opened to the public in 1949. World-renowned for its photograph and motion picture archives, the Museum is also a leader in film preservation and photo-graph conservation, educating the top archivists and conservators from around the world.
“Mr. Eastman (1854–1932) built his home at 900 East Avenue between 1902 and 1905. He created a unique urban estate complete
with 10.5 acres of working farm land, formal gardens, greenhouses, stables, barns, pastures, and a 35,000-square-foot, 50-room Colonial Revival mansion with a fire-proof structure made of reinforced concrete”. (from their website at: http://www.eastmanhouse.org/inc/the_museum/history.php)
