CURRICULUM vITAE

Noortje Rossen was born in Bemmel on the 8th of December 1983. She grew up in the same village with her parents and two sisters. She finished her secondary school at Stedelijk Gymnasium in Nijmegen. She moved to Amsterdam in 2002 to receive her medical training at the University of Amsterdam - Academic Medical Center (AMC) -. During her training, she did a scientific internship in Blantyre, Malawi and an internship tropical medicine in Same, Tanzania. After graduation, she started her first job in internal medicine at the Kennemer Gasthuis in Haarlem. By the end of 2010, she started her PhD project on the role of the microbiome in inflammatory bowel diseases at the AMC, in cooperation with Wageningen Research Center under supervision of Cyriel Ponsioen, Geert D’Haens and Erwin Zoetendal. On the first of January 2015, she started her training in Gastroenterology at the VU Medical Center with a two-year residency at the Department of Internal Medicine in the Medical Center in Alkmaar.

Alle patiënten die bereid waren hun kwetsbaarheid, ervaringen, bloed, weefsels en visie op wetenschappelijke ontwikkelingen met mij te delen, met name de patiënten met colitis ulcerosa die deelnamen aan een experimentele behandeling in het kader van de TURN trial. Ik heb ontzettend veel van jullie geleerd.

Alle donoren die elke fecestransplantatie weer mogelijk maakten, presteren onder druk is een gave.

Jouw doelgerichtheid en enthousiasme voor de IBD heeft me enorm geïnspireerd, zo ook je organisatietalent. Dank dat je mijn promotor wilde zijn.Dr. Zoetendal, Erwin: weg van de drukte in het AMC lukte het ons vanuit het mi-crobiologielab in Wageningen met afstand naar onze patiënten, de fecesmonsters en weefsels te kijken. Van jou leerde ik op een systematische manier analyses te verrichten en artikelen te schrijven met goede papers tot gevolg, dank daarvoor.Dr. Fuentes, Susana: I admire the way you’ve been working on many different projects without any loss of detail. Iedereen die betrokken was bij de TURN trial:Lieve IBD-verpleegkundigen: Mirjam, Florien, Suzan en Maria, zonder jullie was deze trial onuitvoerbaar. Jan Tijssen en Jan van der Meer, dank voor de statistische hulp en het bewaken van de veiligheid van de behandeling. Endoscopieverpleegkundigen, assistentes en sterili-satiemedewerkers: Ann, Hedwig, Saskia, Lydia, Berna, Jolanda, Max, John, Marion en Ria: dank voor het inbrengen van alle sondes, het begeleiden van patiënten in de trial en andere bezigheden. Els, Anne, Pieter en Ruud: het was fijn mijn fascinatie voor poep en alle dilemma’s rondom fecestransplantatie met jullie te kunnen delen waar dat voor anderen soms wat ver ging…
