This means inviting someone to worship, Sunday school, Wednesday night, men’s breakfast, or ANYTHING at our church. We will have a large poster with 300 boxes on it outside the office. Each time you invite and bring someone to church, you will get to check off a box for each person that comes. During the month of January and February, we will talk about this new vision and our goal of Reaching Out on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday nights. On Wednesday, January 10, we will start a study called, “Surprising the World.” It will help equip you with 5 habits to live a missional lifestyle. Hopefully, this study will give you confidence in Reaching Out to those around you. I am excited about 2018 and where our church is headed. I hope you will begin to pray about people in your life you can invite to church to hear the Good News of Jesus. I can’t wait to see what God does in our church and in your life! Rev. Allen Cason

The Methodist Message

Metter United Methodist Church www.metterumc.com January 2018

If you will remember back in September, I informed you that the leadership of the church approved

a new process of ministry and discipleship:

Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out

As a church, we should be Reaching Up to God, Reaching In to each other and Reaching Out to others.

This process is driven by the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission

(Matthew 28:19-20). If we are Reaching Up, Reaching In, and Reaching Out, we are going to be helping to

make disciples who love God and love each other.

For 2018, we have placed our focus on Reaching Out. I believe we have a wonderful spirit of unity

and fellowship in our church. It is time to make sure those who aren’t in church know about it!

So, we have made it a goal in 2018 to invite 300 people to church! That is right…300!

This means inviting someone to worship, Sunday school, Wednesday night, men’s breakfast, or

ANYTHING at our church. We will have a large poster with 300 boxes on it outside the office. Each time

you invite and bring someone to church, you will get to check off a box for each person that comes.

During the month of January and February, we will talk about this new vision and our goal of

Reaching Out on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday nights. On Wednesday, January 10, we will start

a study called, “Surprising the World.” It will help equip you with 5 habits to live a missional lifestyle.

Hopefully, this study will give you confidence in Reaching Out to those around you.

I am excited about 2018 and where our church is headed. I hope you will begin to pray about people

in your life you can invite to church to hear the Good News of Jesus. I can’t wait to see what God does in our

church and in your life!

Rev. Allen Cason

Undecorating the Church – As much fun as it is to decorate the church during Hanging of the Greens, there comes a time to take down the decorations and put them away for the next year. The church will be “undecorated” on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. At 6:00 PM, gather in the social hall for a covered dish supper (the church will NOT provide the chicken). Afterwards, all decorations will need to be removed and packed up. Those who helped in each area during Hanging of the Greens need to be on hand so that the decorations will be placed in the correct boxes and area for storage. For more information, contact Miriam Edenfield. God’s Visible Angels – A conference for caregivers will be held at Guido Bible College on Saturday, January 20, 2018, beginning at 8 AM. There will be sessions on ministering to those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, managing medications, managing stress, and end-of-care issues including legal considerations. The conference is being hosted by Guido Bible College and The Lodge at Bethany. For more information, call 912-685-2222. Diaper Shower – There will be a Diaper Shower honoring Baby Mia Quinones on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 2:30 PM at the parsonage (226 Golf Club Drive). Operation Christmas Child - Thank you to everyone who attended and donated for the Operation Christmas Child Packing Party in November. Let’s go ahead and start collecting for 2018. Items to be on the lookout for in January include clearance Christmas items. Think stocking stuffers such as games, small toys, socks, hair accessories, stickers, etc. As always, if you have any questions contact me. Happy

Packing!! - Kristen Cason

Mary, Did You Know? - Many hours of practice went into the cantata Mary, Did You Know? I would like to say thank you to those who gave of their time to be characters in the drama, to those who had speaking parts, and to the members of the choir. Everyone involved in the presentation gave of their time and talents whether in the choir or drama. Thank you to Dan Henderson who ran the sound and music and to Tripp Anderson and Ty Riggs who ran the lights. People were touched by the questions that were asked of those who were there in Bethlehem with baby Jesus.

Thanks again for a job well done. – Miriam Edenfield

Mark Your Calendar – The March Madness sale will be held March 3, 2018. Price tags are already available in the church office so that you can go ahead and price items as you prepare for the sale. Hey y’all! Just wanted to remind y’all about some events coming up in the new year! January 7, from 5:30-7:30 pm, we will have our first youth worship service in the sanctuary. All ages are invited to come as we start off the new year right! We will start to have these once a month, so be on the lookout! Feb 2-4: we will be heading to Roswell for an “Altar Your Life Worship weekend.” It is a whole weekend surrounded with worship, missions, and much more, and we are partnering with Roswell United Methodist Church to make it happen.
