The Methodist Message
Metter United Methodist Church www.metterumc.com January 2018
If you will remember back in September, I informed you that the leadership of the church approved
a new process of ministry and discipleship:
Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out
As a church, we should be Reaching Up to God, Reaching In to each other and Reaching Out to others.
This process is driven by the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:19-20). If we are Reaching Up, Reaching In, and Reaching Out, we are going to be helping to
make disciples who love God and love each other.
For 2018, we have placed our focus on Reaching Out. I believe we have a wonderful spirit of unity
and fellowship in our church. It is time to make sure those who aren’t in church know about it!
So, we have made it a goal in 2018 to invite 300 people to church! That is right…300!
This means inviting someone to worship, Sunday school, Wednesday night, men’s breakfast, or
ANYTHING at our church. We will have a large poster with 300 boxes on it outside the office. Each time
you invite and bring someone to church, you will get to check off a box for each person that comes.
During the month of January and February, we will talk about this new vision and our goal of
Reaching Out on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday nights. On Wednesday, January 10, we will start
a study called, “Surprising the World.” It will help equip you with 5 habits to live a missional lifestyle.
Hopefully, this study will give you confidence in Reaching Out to those around you.
I am excited about 2018 and where our church is headed. I hope you will begin to pray about people
in your life you can invite to church to hear the Good News of Jesus. I can’t wait to see what God does in our
church and in your life!

Everyone involved in the presentation gave of their time and talents whether in the choir or drama. Thank you to Dan Henderson who ran the sound and music and to Tripp Anderson and Ty Riggs who ran the lights. People were touched by the questions that were asked of those who were there in Bethlehem with baby Jesus.
Thanks again for a job well done. – Miriam Edenfield
