the field of espionage. Yet they go anyway. In this first

adventure, they must retrieve a top secret artifact from

a girlfriend who turns out to be more than she appears.

Filled with snappy banter, science trivia and Star Trek references,

this is a must read for nerds and geeks everywhere!

1958, is the research and develop-

ment organization of the military and

intelligence community. It is comprised

of one hundred or so scientists and en-gineers whose mission is to find and

create technological advantages for

the United States in the fields of war-

fare, surveillance and espionage.

In an unassuming building in Arlington, VA, the smartest and most brilliant minds of the country are constantlyredefining the boundaries between strategy and science.

Dear Mr. Gil

I read your story, “Digit Debacle” in Scifies #1 and I

am still really confused by it. What is it that makes

sense at the end? I tried to figure it out but couldn’t

and for the life of me, it’s driving me crazy! Can you

please explain?

Thanks for writing in, cousin Al. I know my mom

put you up to this and that you’re smart enough

to figure it out. And I don’t want to spoil it for the

other three people out there who bought Scifies

#1, but here’s a clue. How would you count if you

only had FOUR fingers? Hope that helps!

Hi Mon,

Me again. I was wondering if you should have so

much swearing in your stories. And that sex scene

in “The Hard Code” was a bit much, and with an

android! Do you let your kids read this? Perhapsyou should tone it down. Why not do something like

“Archie” or “Peanuts”?

The kids have seen and heard worse in the

movies, Ma. But the truth is, they seem to have

no interest in reading my comic books. Kind of

like my cooking.

Dear Dr. Gil,I have been getting these headaches off and on for

six months and I was wondering if you could give

me any advice. It happens when I’m listening to my

collection of 90s rap music and has become quite

the nuisance. Is there anything you could recom-

mend or prescribe to help alleviate my condition?

me. 2) Stop listening to anything from the 90s.

That shit causes brain damage. If you must,stick with the 80s. 3) You cheap freeloader! Go

see a doctor and pay for it instead of e-mailing

for free advice.

contribute. I am an aspiring comic book artist and

would love to work for your company as a full-time

artist. I am attaching samples of my work. I look for-

Currently our company is just me and I’m not

even full-time. There are no full-time jobs in

indie comics. Comic book creators are the mod-

ern-day versions of starving artists. We have no

cubicles, no health benefits and no 401Ks. We

do it because we love it and because we are

crazy. Having said all that, we are taking submis-

sions. I will respond to your work privately. Oth-

ers who may want to submit can send art
