NATIVITY BVM NEWS

C R E N E E D E D — A ft e r p r a ye r fu l consideration, I have decided it is time for me to retire from our CCD program at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, effective at the end of this CCD year. I have been CRE for 11 years, and taught 9th grade CCD for 20 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the kids and bringing God’s message of love to them. I also cherish the friendships I have made with the teachers. We have AWESOME CCD teachers!! I feel we truly are a CCD Family!! I also want to thank Fr. Gene, Fr. Tom, the Parish Council, and the CCD board for all their support and cooperation over the years. I have decided to announce my retirement midyear, so that hopefully someone will step forward and I can mentor them to make the transition easier. If anyone is interested or would like more information, please call me at 419-305-0212. Please pray for me as this will be a big change in my life! Katie Dippold THANK YOU SO MUCH—Katie Dippold for all your years of bringing God’s message to the young people of Nativity Parish. You have touched countless lives with your faith and friendship. Best of luck in your new calling.

LIC COMMUNITY—Cemetery dues will be collected in the months of January and February. Dues are $10.00 per single person who is 21 and older or $20.00 for married couples and families. You are NOT reserving a cemetery plot, but simply maintaining the cemetery. The cost for a cemetery plot for anyone who has not paid his/her dues is $1,000.00 per lot for a single person or $2,000.00 for married couple. If you are a member of a parish, you are to pay cemetery dues. There is an envelope in your mailed packet or you can use a plain envelope marked cemetery dues with your name and par-ish on it and drop it in the collection at Mass. MISSION TRIP: CAN YOU HELP?—Filter of Hope and CRU from Ball State University are sending a team of 30 students down to El Salvador from March 3rd to March 9th. Kendra Schemmel, daughter of Ed

and Lisa Schemmel, and member of St. John, has decided to spend her spring break answering her calling from God to help those in need by giving them security, happiness, hope, and sharing the beauty that God holds within for us. Where they are going, most people have no access to clean water to drink or cook with. They collect it from rivers and streams that are full of bacteria, parasites and other contaminants. These people have no choice because clean water is simply not available where they live. Therefore, the water keeps them very sick and is causing the deaths of many children. The team will be going house-to-house distributing water filters that will produce up to 150 gallons of clean water every day, for at least 10 years. They will also supply basic hygiene training and soap for the families as they spread the word of God and the good news he brings. Kendra has a goal of raising funds of $1,700 to go on their trip, hopefully by February 12th. Would you prayerfully consider sponsoring her with a gift of a donation of any amount toward this mission? Every bit counts, especially for those whose lives depend on it. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation goes directly to providing and distributing these filters. You can donate either through a check made out to Filter of Hope and mailed to her at 551 Saint Johns Road, Maria Stein, OH 45860 (please put Kendra Schemmel, Ball State University in the memo) or online at https://missionminder.com/Give/b2Z5Eac4F9. If you would like more information, please visit filterofhope.org or contact her at [email protected]. Thank you for considering joining in to help change the

world!
