Introduction
Well it has been heating up this last month and we have had some
amazing adventures out. The weather has been beautiful and it has
been lovely to get out and do activities in the garden. We have all
been very excited about the news of the new Royal baby. We are
looking forward to even more amazing adventures to come this
month.
LATEST NEWS Ashurst Park has been

Joan and Dalma both grew up in London and
had expressed their wishes to go on the
London eye. In early April we decided to
make their wish come true.
Both Joan and Dalma had a fantastic day
seeing the sights. They both commented on
how much London has changed and told some
great stories of their days in London

Hospice in the weald award
ceremony?
This past year the team have been working very hard on completing
training provided by ‘Hospice in the weald’. We are very proud of
the team for their achievements so we celebrated all their hard work
with an official award ceremony.
Hospice in the Weald provides care completely free of charge to
patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent
and Northern East Sussex. Counselling and support are an essential
part of Hospice in the Weald's philosophy of care.

Animal visits
We had a wonderful day having ‘Lily’ a puppy visit us. Our residents
love animals and it was so nice to see them connect and bond with
the puppy. Lily had such a lovely character, a lot like our residents; they loved having a cuddle with her.
We also had fun horsing around with two beautiful ponies.
Our residents enjoyed grooming and treating the horses to their favourite treats.

Our Caring Partners Program Oomph exercise is gentle specialist exercises that are based on expert
methodology, and we use reminiscent music and simple routines to deliver
physical and mental health benefits. We really have noticed a difference in
the people who like to join in. We all have lots of fun doing our routines and
genuinely find that the people who do not want to join in, find themselves
doing little bits here and there, they then choose to join in on the next oomph
session. Staff join in as they go about their work and this supports further
interaction for everyone to enjoy.
Activities with Oomph!
Our residents have been really enjoying our Oomph sessions and they all get
involved as well as staff and family members. It is so lovely to see everyone
joining in and the resident love having a laugh at the staff joining in.

Breakfast & Lunch trips
We have had some lovely trips out for lunch this month, we have
visited, Weatherspoons in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells,
Wyevale garden Centre and even a breakfast trip to Sainsbury’s
Café.
Our residents love having a lunch trip out of the home and have
enjoyed the beautiful weather. The residents are always coming up with new places to go and places they wish to visit again.

‘Magic Moments Club’
App pilot
There is a really exciting development for brighterkind which is due
to be introduced into early in May. I am pleased to announce that we
have been chosen as one of a handful of brighterkind homes to have the brand new Magic Moments Club App, which is exclusive to
brighterkind residents and their friends and families.
• The App brings families closer together and helps all generations
keep making memories together online safely • Residents and Families or contacts can share video, photographs
and stories safely and securely
• Users of the App can build libraries of favourite music, websites
and video clips
• The App also provides access to Our Yesterday – a constantly
updated history of trends, music and events that have shaped our
lives, providing a focus for conversation, shared memories and
quizzes
• Find out about what’s going on in our home
We will be running a number of fun introductory workshops with
residents and relatives to demonstrate the App and show you how
simple it is to log on and to use. We will also be going through the
process of how our residents can invite their chosen friends and
relatives to join.
The workshops will be fun and informative and it would be good if
you can bring along your laptops, iPads or iPhones.
The date for our introductory App workshop is:
12th May 12:00pm
