Dear parents, carers and community members,Welcome to week 4 as we move towards a more complete return to face to face teaching beginning on Monday 25 May. All students can return to school and will be in their regular class routine. It has been lovely to check in with our students as they have returned to school over this last week. We thank all of our families for engaging in the home learning and the support for our school staff.

As our students return to school they will need to continue to bring their lunch and a drink until our canteen resumes operation. Students are expected to wear covered shoes at all times and a hat in the playground as per school policy. The canteen will remain closed at the moment so students will need their lunch, recess and a drink each day.I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work ethic and professionalism of our staff who have efficiently and effectively implemented the required changes to routine when asked to do so during the COVID19 outbreak. They will continue to adapt to the changing environment and do their very best to keep your children safe and provide continuity in learning.

Next week we will focus on assessment for all of our students as we prepare for the reporting period.

There will still be social distancing requirements at the school with the drop off and pick up process staying in place for the time being. Please call or email the school if you wish to speak to a staff member. Increased hygiene practices will also continue with students being required to wash their hands when entering or leaving the classroom and increased departmental cleaning procedures.

It is exciting to announce that our Australian Schools Plus application grant of $10,000, to support our school through the crisis, has been approved. Thank you to Australian Schools Plus (see attachment in this newsletter).

We look forward to seeing all of our students back at school every day next week, if your child is not attending could you please let the school know.

Have a great week!Lesley MillsPrincipal.

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,

It is really exciting to let you know that AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS PLUS have granted our school $10,000 to support our response to the current online learning requirements through their ‘Crisis Appeal.’

The grant will cover increased technology resources, teacher relief for online lessons and materials and resources to enable us to provide learning packs to families.

We know our students will benefit greatly from this initiative and we thank Australian Schools Plus and their funding partners for their generosity.

School Plus is an education charity that helps students fulfil their potential – regardless of their background or location – by increasing funding for schools in need. It was founded as the result of a recommendation in the Gonski Review, which said it should be easier for disadvantaged schools to access philanthropic support. Schools Plus allows donors to make tax-deductible donations to more than 4,600 schools across Australia.

Warm Regards, Lesley Mills, Principal.

Our value this week is

CHALLENGE

• To challenge yourself is to push yourself that bit harder to achieve something important to you.

• By challenging yourself you’re proving to yourself that you have the capacity and effort to overcome hurdles and you’re learning that you have the ability to accomplish new things in life.

• Challenges are important parts of life that give you experiences; make you learn and help you to become wiser and stronger.

• These last couple of months have certainly presented us all with many challenges and it has been wonderful to see so many of our school community facing these challenges with positive outcomes.

The best learning happens when we challenge ourselves.

Your normal routine

If you don’t understand something, ask your teacher or classmates online.

Talking to your teachers and in class is different from how you speak to your friends online. Use proper grammar and avoid excessive emojis.

Take breaks away from screen. Move around and try not to sit all day.

Work in a quiet area, at a desk or table and try to limit distractions.

During calls with your teacher, stay focused on the call. Avoid reading chats or looking at other tabs.

Eat breakfast, brush your teeth and get dressed in the morning.
