______ was the first American movie, as well as the first non-documentary to be given permission to film in Mecca, and also the Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba.

In fact, a second filming unit had to be hired because many crew members, including the director, were not allowed inside the city, as they were not Muslim. Initially, the filming location was set to be New Jersey, as Warner Bros. refused the funding required to film in Mecca, but due to the contributions of several influential members of the community (in a general sense) about whom the film is mainly concerned with, the director was able to film the protagonist’s journey to Mecca.

Name this oscar-nominated film, which contained cameos from Christopher Plummer, Al Sharpton, and Nelson Mandela.

This was was a late 19th- and early 20th-century architectural style, most common to the Midwestern United States. The style is usually marked by horizontal lines, flat or hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows grouped in horizontal bands. The emphasis on horizontal lines were thought to evoke and relate to the native landscape.

Name the style.

Tessei Co. refers to its speedy operations as the “__________ Theater,” and the performance is every bit as impressive as the name implies. The staff’s chores have been observed by visiting officials from Europe and North America, and was also reported by a CNN crew as the “7-minute miracle” performed 120 times a day.

If Tessei’s pink/red attired ‘angels’ could be said to have accomplished anything, it would be having transformed the notorious image of “3K” (dirty, difficult and dangerous) work into a job where the 3K stands instead for “kansha,” “kangeki” and “kando” (gratitude, drama and strong impressions).

FITB and tell me who these angels are.

Both are related yet distinct disorders. However, according to recent studies, a combination of both is purported to be the cause behind the deformity of a certain individual, who has remained a medical enigma for over 150 years.

What is the name of this person, originally thought to have suffered from dermatolysis and pachydermatocele?

This quote has often been attributed to Sun Tzu and Niccolo Machiavelli, before it gained widespread popularity in the 1970s due to something.

However, there are no published references to this exact phrase before it was written down by the people who helped to popularize it.

The closest that we can come to it is this sentence by Sun Tzu, whose literal translation is as follows:

“Know [the] other, know [the] self, hundred battles without danger; not knowing [the] other but know [the] self, one win one loss; not knowing [the] other, not knowing [the] self, every battle must [be] lost.”

Which phrase ?

On November 24th, 1966, New York experienced its smoggiest day in recorded history. At least 169 deaths were reported that day, allegedly dying of the air pollution.

It was snapped at 8:30 A.M. (EST) as the New York metropolitan area choked under heavy stagnant air pollution conditions caused by massive air inversion over the middle Atlantic coast”

How did this photo launch back into popular consciousness in 2013?

In the mid-19th century, a man named Carl B. Frank began importing something to New York City. This import quickly became popular throughout America, but the surge in urban migration and lack of sanitation regulation posed a major problem in cities. People often tossed their garbage into the streets, leading to a general foul stench and public waste buildup. A fresh ________might seem non-threatening, but a rotting _______was a slime-covered booby trap, and an 1880 Harper’s weekly edition even warned about the risk of broken limbs.

So basically, what we take for granted as slapstick device, was in reality a harsh satire on the sanitary conditions of turn-of-the century America, with vaudeville comedian Billy Watson as the self-proclaimed inventor.

What act am I talking about?

Allāt, al-'Uzzā and Manāt were three pagan goddesses worshipped by the Meccans. In the beginning, Prophet Muhammad backed away from his uncompromising monotheism and allowed that these 3 gods existed, based on what ____ told him:

Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-‘Uzzáand Manāt, the third, the other?

These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for. Muhammad is said to have included in the Quran some lines in favour of these 3

gods. Later he removed them after being chastised by Gabriel and instead mocked them by placing the following:

Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza

And Manat, the third, the other? Are yours the males and His the females? That indeed were an unfair division!

They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.

What is the prophet Muhammad said to have removed form the Quran?

X is a West African god, about whom tales are told all over Africa. He is a spider, but often acts and appears like a man. The eponymous tales originated from the Ashanti people of present-day Ghana. The stories made up an exclusively oral tradition, and indeed X himself was synonymous with skill and wisdom in speech.

When slaves were brought from Africa to USA, their descendants continued to tell the stories, with X having changed to Aunt Nancy.

Aunt Nancy stories in the US have many similarities with another tradition , the Y stories brought from the Bantu people of South and Central Africa.

Y is a central figure in “Tales of Southern USA” as told by Uncle Remus, the fictional narrator of a collection of African-American folktales adapted and compiled by Joel Chandler Harris, published in book form in 1881. Y is a trickster who succeeds by his wits rather than by brawn, provoking authority figures and bending social mores as he sees fit. The Walt Disney Company later adapted Y for its 1946 animated motion picture Song of the South.

Name X, the West African Spider-god who was also a minor character in Spiderman comics and Y, who features in the stories by Uncle Remus.
