OF

CONDUCT

Athlete Pledge

Manager/Coach Pledge

• I will treat others as I would like to be treated.

• I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of my desire to win and endeavor to be reasonable in my demands of a young player’s time, energy, enthusiasm and performance on the field.

• I will conduct all of my relationships with players, peers, parents and spectators from a perspective of dignity, including the use of appropriate language and the avoidance of profanity and violent behavior.

• I will strive to develop every member of my team and direct comments or criticism relative to performance, not the athlete, focusing on compliance with the rules of the game and proper coaching techniques, including being generous with my praise when it is well-deserved.

• I will respect the integrity and judgment of the officials, including umpires and other coaches and managers.

• I will ensure that my players remain safe during practices and games by focusing on injury prevention, maintaining awareness of inclement weather, providing guidelines for safety (as provided by the Safety Officer) including awareness of Stranger Danger and ensuring that a manager or coach is present to supervise players at all times.

• I will recognize the trust placed in, and the unique power of, the coach and athlete relationship and model the concepts of character, courage and loyalty for my players.

• I will never knowingly permit an ineligible player to be on my team, including any willful ignorance or the intentional withholding of eligibility information.

• I will follow the advice of a physician when determining when an injured player is ready to resume play.

• I will maintain open lines of communication with my players’ parents.Parent/Volunteer Pledge
