Definition of the cluster

„Industrial cluster (another designations are: circle, industrial

bundle, local production system, pole of competition) is a

geographic concentration of competitive companies in joined

together sectors, joined with each other economically, sharing

the same skills, technology and infrastructure. In a cluster

large, as well as little companies reach much more, then in a

situation, when they will have to work on their own, thanks to

the web of joined together companies , suppliers, services,

academic institutions and producers concentrated on the

same area”. (Porter M. E., The Competitive Advantage of Nations, Macmillan Press, Hampshire and London 1990)
