The Gospel predicts end times; our challenge though is to live life faithfully now. St. Vincent often asked this simple question: " What would Jesus Christ do, if he were in my place now?" Ask yourself "What would Jesus Christ do?" and then put your gift in the Society of St, Vincent de Paul poor box so that those of our neighbors who are suffering will be able to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving.

STAIN GLASS WINDOWS This past week the Knights of Columbus #347 installed several stain glass windows at Holy Ghost Church that were repaired over the last month. We want to sincerely thank all those that donated funds to have the 7 windows refurbished. We also want to thank the Knights, especially Terri Plante, Dan McDonald and Russ Kenn, for donating their time and talent to remove, repair the frames and reinstall the windows. Their efforts have saved the Parish over $6,000.00 if someone else was hired to do this work. If over the winter anyone would like to donate funds to refurbish a window in memory of a loved one or as a gift to the Parish please see Charlie Guillemette in the rectory or call Jim Davidson at 781 447 5889. We will resume the work on the windows in the spring as funds allow. If you would like to donate smaller amounts on a monthly basis you may do so by placing your donation in an envelope marked “Stain Glass Window Repair” and place it in the weekly collection or drop it by the rectory.

GIVING TREES AT HOLY GHOST TO HELP THE NEEDY FAMILIES OF

OUR PARISH Each year the St. Vincent de Paul Society places Giving Trees in the upper and lower churches with gift suggestions for those who are in need of our help, so that we can provide Christmas gifts for the needy. It’s easy to do-just take a tag from the tree after Mass, purchase a gift, and return it (unwrapped, please) the following week. The tags are labeled for boys or girls, and age levels, so choose the one you would like to help. If you’d like to provide a gift for youngsters in the 12-15 age group and don’t quite know what to get, you might want to purchase a gift card to Walmart, Target or other store of your choice. You can drop the gift card in the St. Vincent collection box at the rear of the church, and the cards will be added to our distribution list in time for Christmas. Thank you in advance for your unfailing generosity to our brothers and sisters in need.

The Little Drummer Boy Christmas Pageant The Daughters of Isabella will once again present The Little Drummer Boy Christmas Pageant to take place on Saturday, December 3rd after the 4PM Mass at Holy Ghost Church. Auditions will be held on November 14, 2016 at 6:30PM at the Spellman Center at Holy Ghost Church. Grade 3-8 please come to auditions. Grades K-2 will be angels and we ask that you come as well to fill out permission slips and receive copies of the songs. There will be only one date for auditions. If you cannot come to auditions, but would like a speaking role, please contact Christa Crowley at [email protected]

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Light of Christ Catholic Collaborative, We are coming close to the end of the Liturgical Year. The readings this weekend prepare us to think about end-times. In today’s Gospel the Destruction of the Temple is foretold along with the Signs of the End and the Coming Persecution. Jesus shares this information just prior to the events that will lead to his crucifixion. At first, the reading doesn’t sound that encouraging! Stones will collapse upon stones. Wars and insurrections will happen. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place. They will seize and persecute you. These things did happen! But Jesus reminds them and us that they will cause us to give testi-mony. Perseverance in the face of persecution will lead to salvation. Jesus is assuring his followers that God is present to all believers, even in times of trouble. As dis-ciples of Jesus, we try to follow his example, trusting in God's mercy and protection, even when we are facing difficulties. “Not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” That is Good News! THIS Sunday morning at the 10:30 Mass at Holy Ghost, we will be welcoming all the “new men” at Pope Saint John XXIII National Seminary. For the past few years, these new students to the Seminary have been com-ing to Holy Ghost Parish to learn what a Parish does when someone becomes ill, needs assistance and hospice, passes away, planning the Funeral Liturgy and burial. It is a great learning experience for the men studying for the priesthood. They will learn all that a parish can do to bring the love and hope of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering the loss of a loved one. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Beginning NEXT Sunday, November 20th, there will be four (4) different “Thanksgiving Services” offered during the week in Abington and Whitman. Two (2) of these Ser-vices are Ecumenical. The Christian Churches in each town are offering a Thanksgiving Service. Abington’s Ecumenical Service will be NEXT Sunday evening (Nov. 20) at 6:30 p.m. at ST. BRIDGET CHURCH. Whit-man’s Ecumenical Service will be on Tuesday evening (Nov. 22) at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitman United Methodist Church at 503 South Ave. Holy Ghost Parish will offer a Thanksgiving Mass on Wednesday evening (Nov. 23) at 7:00 p.m. St. Bridget’s will offer a Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday morning (Nov. 24 – Thanksgiving Morning) at 9:00 a.m. I will be participating in all 4 of the Ser-vices. I encourage every parishioner to attend at least one of them, if not more. I am a firm believer that grateful-ness is the heart of all prayer. Please come and offer your gratitude to the Lord at one or more of these Services. Let us pray for each other. God bless, Father Mahoney

BC High Information Nights BC High, a college prep school for boys in grades 9-12, is hosting Information Nights for prospective families. Join these interactive events to gain a more focused perspective of BC High. Hear from our faculty and current students who will share their experiences about what makes BC High a special place. Engage in conversations to learn how our students’ growth is influenced by our program of formation, known as the Graduate at Graduation. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. Upcoming dates: For Grades 9 – 11: November 16 and December 5 For more information and to RSVP, visit www.bchigh.edu/visit.

Abington Town-wide Thanksgiving Prayer Service

On Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 6:30 PM, St. Bridget Church will host the Annual Town-wide Thanksgiving Prayer Service with the accompaniment of the Abington Town Choir. The Clergy from our neighboring churches in Abington will be participating. We invite all parishioners to attend to join with our fellow neighbors and friends to give thanks for our many blessings. As we will be the hosts this year, we are reaching out to ask for volunteers to assist with making this event warm and welcoming to all who will attend. We hope that our Confirmation students will assist with greeting everyone as well as serving as ushers to take up the collection for our St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. In addition, we will need individuals to assist with the Collation following the Service in our Parish Hall. Assistance will be needed with setting-up, starting the coffee, picking up the refreshments, etc. and clean-up. If you can assist, please contact Colleen Booker at the Rectory.

Quilting Ministry The next meeting of the Quilting Ministry will be Friday, November 19, from 9:45 am to 2:00 pm. Everyone from the Collaborative is invited to join us. Starting this month, we will be making kids’ quilts for the pediatric unit at Brockton Hospital. We have a lot of fun fabric to work with. You do not need to know how to quilt to join us! We meet on the second floor of the Friary Building, which is located next to St. Bridget's School. Hope to see you there. If you have any questions, call Rose Perry at 781-871-7125.
