A Bookworm’s ViewA Bookworm’s ViewA Bookworm’s ViewA Bookworm’s View
Taken by Robert Crais
Don’t start this at bedtime! Crais’ latest is a “can’t put it down”
thriller. He has hit the immigration problem with a bang, and given it
twists and turns that could (and probably do) happen. Elvis Cole & Joe
Pike work through the dilemmas with their usual aplomb. This is a
great read by a favorite author. - Anonymous

May is Historic Preservation and Archaeology Month
May is Historic Preservation and Archaeology Month in Wisconsin. Wisconsin has a multitude of historic homes, schools, boathouses and more in every county and many towns and cities which are part of a digital collection located at this web address: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/hp/register/index.asp.
Once you enter this website, you can click on a county and search by the name of the historic
building or by the city or town where it is located. If you click on Oneida County and click on Three Lakes from the pull down list under “civil town,” you will find these historic sites listed:
• Indianapolis Outing Club, on Wheeler Island Road • Jollywood, on Leatzow Road • George P Mayer boathouse, on Braeger Road • Marshall D Miller boathouse, on Campground Road • Reay boathouse, on Honk Hill Road • Joseph and Augusta Trunck boathouse, on Leatzow Road
All of these sites are part of the National Register of Historic Places in Wisconsin. If you click on “View” you will find pictures of the structure with a brief history. The same can be done for each county in Wisconsin. Take a look at this website and see what historic sites have been preserved in your home town.
