What is the Lantau Water Buffalo?

• Big and very heavy animals

• And were used for farming.

Where do they live?

• Buffalo’s live in former paddy fields, but they do also roam around the island.

How Many Are Left?

• There are less than 100 Lantau Water Buffaloes living in Pui O.

• Have no owners

Buffalo Dung

• Buffalo Dung is used as:

1. Fertiliser

2. Fuel

Approaching Water Buffaloes

a) Approach slowly and gently

b) Don’t touch calves, this will upset the mother.
