This Quarters Theme

od has truly guided the creation of this study (you will understand once you see

the study itself!). I truly must give thanks. In this study, I present to you a

glimpse of the precious Savior in a way that I had never before experienced.

When Christ came to this earth, He studied and cherished Scripture. He

memorized it, He shared it, He lived it. Yet, what Scripture did He have? What did it

contain? The writers of the New Testament did not yet know Him.

What Christ had what He learned, studied, and preached from was the Old

Testament. In this quarter-long study, we will essentially examine the gospel according

to the OT. I strongly believe that the message of t he kingdom and of the life, ministry,

death, and resurrection of Christ is clearly stated in the Old Testament how else would

the Jews have known to wait for Him?

With this Messianic study of the Old Testament comes a study of the Gospel of

John. The youngest disciple and the longest-lived, John the Revelator literally reveals

the person of Christ. Though he does not touch directly on the treasured and acclaimed

story of Jesus birth, he essentially trace s a genealogy to His true Father. In the

beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God The same was in the beginning

with God (John 1:1-2). John ends his book with a statement of awe and exclamation:

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written

every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should

be written(John 21:25).

My ultimate desire in producing this in-depth study of Christ is that we may know

Him and, through knowing, live Him. Such was the prayer of Jesus: I in them, and Thou

[Father] in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know

that Thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me (John 17:23).

Jesus wants us to abide in Him and have Him abide in us; He wishes to live through us so

fully that the world will see Him, and not ourselves, that they may be led to realize just

how dear Christ is to us.

As you study with earnest prayer, an open heart, and a pliable mind, I pray that

you will see God in the beauty of holiness(Psalm 96:9).

Spirit of Prophecy: The Desire of Ages

he story of Christ is rarely understood in its fullness. We often tend to focus on

the portions which appeal to us or have more text written about them.

Unintentionally, we narrow down the life of our Savior.

This beautiful commentarial piece on the desire of all nations (Haggai 2:7) is

like a fountain of pure water to the thirsty, searching heart. It expounds on the life of

the Son of God in simple, but powerful language, making room for deep spiritual impact

on even the littlest of children.

I myself am reading this book for my Master Guide achievement. Had I known

just how rich it was, I probably would have started earlier! In any case, I am thankful

that God has brought me to this book now.

The author, Ellen Gould White, was deeply impacted by the message of Gods

great love for man, since her adolescence. This concept of divine affection permeates

and flows throughout her writing.

It is my hope and prayer that the reading of this literature coupled with the study

of Gods precious Word leads you to a better life in Christ Jesus, our Savior .
