• In 2012 the USA youths had a voluntary contribution index of @25% while those in India was 1.5%.

• It is very clear the country’s improvements depend upon these and USA had immensely benefitted by this.

• So to duplicate such efforts in India, the focus should be on the youths or the college students of metro cities who are ready to contribute immensely and do not know how or have no ready guidance.

• “The Kuch Karo Project” would like to encourage the Indian youths to volunteer and take this country in a upward way

The Psychology of The Psychology of VolunteeringVolunteering

– Studies on the psychological motivation to volunteer have framed the act of volunteering as making a choice between giving time to others (volunteering with NGOs) and spending time on the self (studying, seeing friends, participating in hobbies)

– The optimal way to motivate groups of people to volunteer is by creating a “group cooperation model,” where each member is accountable to the rest of the group to contribute to reaching a particular goal.

– In our case, the group all come from one school, and the goal will take the form of our celebrity endorser or industry leader prize.

What makes Us Different? What makes Us Different?

• Unlike NSS, we are not project-based. Though our program has a length of one month, we hope to springboard a lifelong desire to engage with a particular cause in students.

• We also provide opportunities, within the month, for students to volunteer in different organizations, to find the best fit for them and their passion.

• By working with different NGOs, students gain exposure to a wide range of underprivileged populations in India.
