URGENT NEED AT CTK
Update: work on the new system begins Monday 2/25.
The portion of our HVAC System that server Founder’s Hall, The West Entrance and Foyer, and our Office Area has failed and needs to be replace immediately. We have been working through multiple failures and repairs for the last three years and it no longer makes sense to pour money into this system. Cost of this project is approximately $90,000.
We are seeking funding through a variety of sources.
First: You can have an immediate impact! If you would like to make a direct donation to this need please make your check out to Christ the King and side-mark “HVAC”.
Second: For Thrivent members, your Thrivent Choice Dollars can be designated for Christ the King and will go a long way in helping pay for the new HVAC System. If you need assistance in designating your Thrivent Choice Dollars please call 1-800-847-4836 and they will walk you through the process.

LOVE—GROW—SERVE
Well, wasn’t February fun!
Very cold temperatures! Record snowfall! High winds! Heating system out of service, and I lost count on how many times our parking lots had to be plowed and mounds of snow piled up around here that will probably be here until June. And oh yes, staffing changes
Ah but spring is right around the corner! Yah sure! You betcha!
Thanks be to God that through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Christ the King issued a Call to Eric Nelson to become our Minister of Children, Youth and Family Outreach, and that that Call has been accepted!
Pastor Jon, Martha and I are working with Eric, Adina and the family on their transition from Indiana to Coeur d’Alene and helping prepare them for their ministry here so that he hits the ground running. We will keep you informed as thing’s progress and on the timing of their arrival.
One new staff member is on the way and sadly one is leaving us. Kylie Trout, Director of our Early Learning Center will be leaving us at the end of March. Kylie has accepted another position in our community that will allow her more flexibility with work and family and gratefully, continue to assist the ELC on a volunteer basis. We have been blessed with Kylie’s leadership over the past year and she leaves the ELC in a very solid position. Thank you Kylie. God bless you!

Short-term, Assistant Director Courtney Myers will assume the Director’s role. Courtney has been with the ELC since 2008, she knows the operation well, and we are blessed to have her at the Center and willing to take on these additional responsibilities. Long-term, we will begin, with the assistance of the Northwest District, begin a search for an experienced rostered LCMS worker, educated, trained and certified through our Concordia University System in Early Childhood Education. We will discuss this in more detail at the March 10th Voters Meeting.
We are also currently developing plans for the needs of two key ministries. The first being our Love Pantry Ministry which is growing exponentially, and the other is preparing for future growth in our Youth and Family Outreach Ministry. Those plans include remodeling and increasing our office and meeting space as well as additional storage capacity and handling resources for the Love Pantry. Lots of work and planning needed here as every move we make impacts something else and requires multiple movements. It’s a little like the domino effect!
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

Members of Christ the King,
As many of you know, I balance my time between the Early Learning Center and consulting work in the Credit Union Industry. I have recently accepted a new opportunity that will remove my ability to stay on with the ELC in a full-time capacity; as a result, I will be stepping down as the ELC Director. I will, however, remain an active volunteer at the Center, ensuring that we transition smoothly into the next school year.
We will look to our LCMS Early Education Network to find additional Leadership to round out our Administrative Team as I exit. As we fill the vacancy, Courtney Myers, our Assistant Director, will be stepping into a Director role with the Early Learning Center.
Please join me in support of Courtney as she tackles new projects and responsibilities. I will continue to be accessible to Courtney as she transitions.

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Good things come to those who wait.” As you undoubtedly recall, we here at CTK have been on a journey of listening, discerning, realigning, planning, praying, calling and waiting. It has been almost a year and half since we entered into this process of seeking after God’s leading for us as a church, following the Lord’s calling of Pastor Bob from our community. And, as I sit and type this article only a few days after receiving the phone call from Eric Nelson, I believe that God is continuing to lead us forward in His plans for us. Why do I believe that? Because the consistent prayer that I’ve prayed, and that we’ve prayed together (I know this, because I’ve led us a congregation several times in this very prayer) is that God would definitively close or open this door according to His will. After all this waiting, it’s wonderful to see how the Lord has worked through this process and in the hearts of Eric and Adina to lead them to see God’s calling to be part of our community! It is exciting to begin to now starting thinking about Eric will join our ministry team, to bolster the ministry already underway, and to add to our efforts to bring vibrant, Christ-centered faith into the lives of those both within and outside of church community. So now what? Well, we continue to wait on the Lord! I’m not just talking about the few short months until school for the Nelson girls ends and the family moves out to Coeur d’ Alene (probably early June), but more importantly that we would continue to seek after God’s will in these days. For sure, these are dynamic times for our world today, for our community and for our lives as followers of Jesus. Into this reality, the words of Jesus from Matthew 7 speak to us: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” A chapter earlier (6:33), Jesus reminds us that this asking, seeking, and knocking is centered on the Kingdom of God above all else. And so, our journey of faith is a continual process of asking of the Lord, seeking his will, and bringing our requests/hopes/desires for the Kingdom of God to him in prayer. And then waiting, and listening, and discerning—and then doing! So, in a tangible way, this process is a
microcosm of our lives of faith following after Jesus. Our life as Christians is all about walking in faith, trusting in God’s leading throughout our days. As we continue our journey together, may we continue to wait upon the Lord, seeking his Kingdom, and courageously follow where He leads! Pastor Jon
