The Jakobean Drama(1)-during the reign of king James I,Puritanism grew in power and the expansion colonies became of colonie became more and more spectacular.The lavrish vitality of the elizabetans is never the less perverted in the sense of negation which is characteristic of the Jakobean mood.This anticipates the self distucted evil,the horror and pathos of the Dutchess of Malfi ending up with the morality in James Ford characters.Similarities and differences between Elisabetan Drama and Jakobean Drama.Similar is first of all the elemnt of continuity that is both types of drama.The jakobeans manifest their preoccupation with order by a permanent horror of disorder,of chaos as well as the end of the world.The Jakobean Drama also broughted out the element of discontinuity which is main expressed by the rise and fall of symbolism.symbolism aquire the very important place in the elizabetan drama,everything being turned into a symbol thus the play metaphore in which life was viewed as been a stage.In the Jakobean age,symbolism could not survive people being not able to distinghuish the reality beyond the concrete.So the Jakobean age is thus a highly pragmatic age.It is not an age of enthusiasm as men could dicover nothing behind the visible and material solidity of the world.In the Elizabetan Drama there was a feeling of something else beyond the everyday reality. (2)The elizabetans described the world which was populated of symbols and metaphors who’s meaning give sense to the Elzabetan plays.In the Jakobean drama people could not see the spiritual significants of the world,that is why the Jakobean writers fall from a symbolic reality into a factual one.The jakobeans were concerned with the immediacy of the concrete facts and with the sense of loss of the spiritual significants of the world.The favorite image of the Jakobean age/playwrits is life seen as a game of chess,and this is best illustrated in a tragedy written by Thomas Middleton “Women Bewere Women”.The J drama broughted out some novelties in the relation between the public and the theatre,between art and entertainment.Some novelties in the scenary and the condition of the actors.The J drama differd from the Elizabethan drama which was popular type of drama where as the J drama was a class-oriented drama.Where as the Elizabethan integrates poetry in hus structure,the J drama has great poetic moments which are however separated from his structure.The J drama represents the last echoes of the aristocratic sensibility.After the J drama it is the middle
